Srđan Karanović
Srđan Karanović ( sr-Cyrl, Срђан Карановић, , born 17 November 1945) is a Serbian film director and screenwriter. He has directed 17 films since 1968. His film '' Miris poljskog cveća'' won the FIPRESCI prize at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival, '' Nešto između'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. '' A Film with No Name (Za Sada Bez Dobrog Naslova)'' won the Golden Tulip Award at the Istanbul International Film Festival in 1989. His 2009 film '' Besa'' was selected as the Serbian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist. ''Virgina'' (Serbo-Croatian: ''Virdžina'', Serbian Cyrillic alphabet, Serbian Cyrillic: ''Вирџина'') is a 1991 Cinema of Yugoslavia, Yugoslav drama film directed by Srđan Karanović. Plot The action of the film takes place at the end of the 19th century, in a remote village of Kninska Krajina. At that time, it was the province of Dalmatia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Big Golden Arena For Best Film
The Golden Arena awards were established in 1955 as the Yugoslav national film awards presented annually at the Pula Film Festival in Pula, Croatia, with the Big Golden Arena for Best Film its main prize. From 1955 to 1990 the awards were the Yugoslav cinema equivalent of the Academy Awards. The award is named after the Pula Arena, the 1st-century Roman amphitheatre in the coastal city of Pula, where film screenings preceding the awards ceremony traditionally take place. ''Grlom u jagode'' (Cyrillic: Грлом у јагоде, "The Unpicked Strawberries") is a 1975 Yugoslavian TV series directed by Srđan Karanović and co-written by Karanović and Rajko Grlić. Montenegrins ( cnr, Црногорци, Crnogorci, or ; lit. "Black Mountain People") are a South Slavic ethnic group that share a common Montenegrin culture, history, and language, identified with the country of Montenegro.
