Sri Gauri Mahatyam
''Sri Gauri Mahatyam'' () is a 1956 Indian Telugu-language swashbuckler film, directed by D. Yoganand. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Sriranjani Jr., with music jointly composed by Ogirala Ramachandra Rao and T. V. Raju. Plot The film begins with a King (C.S.R.) who has two wives, the first wife Satyavathi Devi (P. Hemalatha) is an ardent devotee of Goddess Mangala Gauri and she names her daughter Bala Gauri. On the other side, as the second wife Satyabhama (Suryakala) is childless she begrudges and poisons them when Satyavathi dies, but Gauri escapes. Years roll by, and Gauri (Srirajani Jr.) also grows up with the same devotion towards the goddess. Now Satyabhama decides to couple up her with a lunatic and assigns the task to gardener Thantalu (Relangi). But faithful Thantalu wants to stop this atrocity. Malladi Ramakrishna Sastry M.A. ( te, మల్లాది రామకృష్ణశాస్త్రి) (16 June 1905 – 12 September 1965) was a Telugu writer. Suryakantham (actress)
Suryakantham (28 October 1924 – 18 December 1994) was an Indian actress in Tollywood. She was popular for playing the role of a cruel mother-in-law in most of her movies. Early life Suryakantham was born and brought up in a Telugu Brahmin family residing at Venkata Krishnaraya Puram near Kakinada of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. She was the 14th child to her parents, ten of whose children had died. She learnt dance and singing at the age of six. She married Peddibhotla Chalapati Rao, a High Court Judge, in 1950. Pillavalu Gajapathy Krishnaveni (3 November 1935 – 16 August 2004), more famously known as Jikki, was an Indian playback singer from Andhra Pradesh. She sang around 10,000 songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and Sinhalese languages. Early life Jikki was born in Chennai on 3 November 1935. Her parents Gajapathi Naidu and Rajakanthamma, a Telugu family, had moved from Chandragiri, near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to Chennai for their livelihood. Kosaraju Raghavayya (23 June 1905 – 27 October 1987), known mononumously by his surname Kosaraju, was an Indian lyricist and poet known for his works in Telugu cinema. Ghantasala Venkateswararao (4 December 1922 – 11 February 1974), known mononymously by his surname as Ghantasala, was an Indian playback singer and film composer known for his works predominantly in Telugu and Kannada cinema and also in Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu and Hindi language films. He is considered as one of the greatest singers of Telugu cinema. In 1970, he received the Padma Shri award, India's fourth highest civilian award for his contribution to Indian cinema. Raavu Balasaraswathi Devi (born 28 August 1928) is an Indian singer and actress who performed from 1930 to the 1960s in Telugu and Tamil cinema. She was the first light music singer on All India Radio and the first playback singer in the Telugu cinema. Early life Balasaraswathi was born in Venkatagiri in 1928. Pushpavalli
Pushpavalli (3 January 1926 – 28 April 1991) was an Indian actress who predominently worked in Telugu and Tamil films. She entered the film industry as a child actress with a small role as young Sita in the film ''Sampoorna Ramayanam'' (1936). This was followed by a few more roles as child star. Pushpavalli later graduated to doing roles as an adult. Her biggest hit was the Telugu film '' Bala Nagamma'' (1942), where she played an important supporting role. Her 1947 film ''Miss Malini'', where she played the lead role, received great critical acclaim from the intelligentsia, but flopped at the box office. She continued playing supporting roles well into the late 1960s. She married I V Rangachari in 1940 but they began living apart from 1946.
