Sreenivasan Jain
Sreenivasan Jain is an Indian journalist who worked for NDTV from 1995 - Jan 2023. He is currently an adjunct faculty at O.P. Jindal Global University He was one of the prominent faces of NDTV, and during his three-decade career with the news television, served as the anchor of NDTV’s popular programmes, like ''Reality Check,'' '' Truth vs Hype'' etc. He was also the channel's Group Editor. He was NDTV's Mumbai bureau chief from 2003 to 2008. He was also briefly Managing Editor of NDTV's business channel, Profit. He is also an Op-ed columnist for the Business Standard newspaper. An Op-ed column in The Hoot, an independent South Asian media watchdog, praised Jain's television coverage of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. Jain is the grandson of M A Sreenivasan, a minister in the Princely State of Mysore, and the son of Devaki Jain and Lakshmi Chand Jain. Lakshmi Chand Jain
Lakshmi Chand Jain (1925–2010) was a political activist and writer. Later, he served at various times as a member of the Planning Commission, as Indian High commissioner to South Africa, as a member of the World Commission on Dams (WCD) and as secretary of the Indian Cooperative Union and the All India Handicrafts Board (AIHB). His position as the ambassador was terminated as the Vajpayee Government felt that he had not defended India's position on Nuclear tests effectively in South Africa. He eventually joined Indian National Congress. He was posthumously awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award, by the UPA government. Devaki Jain
Devaki Jain (born 1933) is an Indian economist and writer, who has worked mainly in the field of feminist economics. In 2006 she was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award from Government of India, for her contribution to social justice and the empowerment of women. Truth vs Hype is an Indian weekly current affairs programme produced by Ambika Varma and presented by Sreenivasan Jain in the English news channel New Delhi Television 24x7 (NDTV 24x7). 2013 Muzaffarnagar Riots
The clashes between the Hindu and Muslim communities in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India in August–September 2013, resulted in at least 62 deaths including 42 Muslims and 20 Hindus and injured 93 and left more than 50,000 people displaced. By date 17 September, the curfew was lifted from all riot affected areas and the army was also withdrawn.
