Spyridium Villosum
''Spyridium villosum'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Rhamnaceae and is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It is a small shrub with shaggy-hairy branchlets, linear to oblong leaves and dense heads of hairy flowers with broad brown bracts at the base. Description ''Spyridium villosum'' is a low-growing shrub that typically grows to a height of , its branches covered with shaggy grey or rust-coloured hairs. The leaves are linear to oblong, long with a downcurved point on the tip, and hairy, especially on the lower surface. The flowers heads are densely crowded in cymes with broad, brown bracts at the base and one or two floral leaves. The sepal tube is about long and woolly-hairy. Taxonomy This species was first formally described in 1858 by Nikolai Turczaninow who gave it the name ''Cryptandra villosa'' in the ''Bulletin de la Société Impériale des Naturalistes de Moscou''. The Declared Rare and Priority Flora List is the system by which Western Australia's conservation flora are given a priority. Developed by the Government of Western Australia's Department of Environment and Conservation, it was used extensively within the department, including the Western Australian Herbarium. The Stirling Range or Koikyennuruff is a range of mountains and hills in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, south-east of Perth. It is over wide from west to east, stretching from the highway between Mount Barker and Cranbrook eastward past Gnowangerup. Born into a distinguished family, he initially studied law, but had a fascination with botany from an early age, which he soon pursued, becoming president of the Linnaean Society in 1861, and a fellow of the Royal Society in 1862.
