Espinho, Portugal
Espinho () is a city and a municipality located in the Aveiro District, Portugal. It is located in both the Greater Porto and the Metropolitan Area of Porto, 16 km from its city centre. It is one of the smallest municipalities in Portugal and was, until 1899, part of the Santa Maria da Feira Municipality. In 2021, Espinho had a population of 31,027, a slight decrease from the previous census in 2011, when 31,786 were registered, in an area of 21.06 km². The current Mayor is Miguel Reis, elected by the PS. It is a beach resort and a zone of legal gambling with a casino - ''Casino Solverde''. Its fair - ''Feira de Espinho'', having been first organised in 1894, is well known in Portugal. The Portuguese Volleyball First Division (Portuguese: ''Campeonato Nacional de Voleibol – I Divisão'') is the top men's volleyball league in Portugal. The competition, which is organised by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation, was called Honor Division (Divisão de Honra) in 1983–84 and 1986–88. Between 1997 and 2011, the League was divided into two different series, A1 and A2. Since the 2014–15 season, the competition's champions are called ''Elite Champions'', while the ''First Division Champion'' title is disputed between the 4 losers of the play-off's first round. Sporting Clube De Espinho
Sporting Clube de Espinho, also known as Sporting de Espinho, is a Portuguese sports club from the city of Espinho in the Aveiro district. Besides football, the club has volleyball and handball departments that usually compete in the major Portuguese top leagues. Other sport departments are those in athletics, swimming and futsal. History Founded in 1914, it is one of the oldest clubs in Portugal. In 1925, SC Espinho's football team reached the semifinals of the Campeonato de Portugal, their highest round to date. The team also played 11 seasons in the Portuguese First Division between 1975 and 1997. They currently compete in AF Aveiro Campeonato Sabseg. The football team played their home games at Estádio Comendador Manuel Violas in Espinho, until 2018. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. Portuguese Volleyball Super Cup
The Portuguese Volleyball Super Cup or Supertaça de Portugal is an annual Portuguese volleyball competition played by the champions of the Campeonato Nacional de Voleibol and the winners of the Taça de Portugal de Voleibol. It is organized by the Federação Portuguesa de Voleibol and its first edition (won by Benfica) took place in 1990. Sporting CP won the next three, with Castêlo da Maia and Sporting de Espinho dominating the next eight years, winning four titles each. In 2002, the tournament was interrupted and only resumed in 2010, with Castêlo da Maia winning its fifth. From 2011 to 2016, Benfica won six Supertaças in a row, becoming the most honoured club in the competition, currently with 11 trophies.
