''SpellCaster'' is a Master System video game that stars a character named Kane. This game was known in Japan as and in South America as ''Warrior Quest''. It had a sequel, ''Mystic Defender''. Plot The game starts when Kane is summoned by Daikak, the great leader of the Summit Temple, to stop a war between factions of warlords. The player explores temples and defeats enemies like ghosts, ninja and feral beasts. There are also villages to explore and people to talk to as the player assembles clues on who desecrated his home town's temple and killed its guardians. The Master System—renamed and with a redesigned casing from the original Sega Mark III, which had been released in the Japanese market in 1985—is a video game console released by Sega in the North American market in June 1986 to compete with the Nintendo Entertainment System, which had been released in the same market in February 1986 (an earlier test market for NES in New York and California occurred in October 1985). Originally priced at 200, North American distribution rights for the console were acquired by Tonka before Sega re-acquired the rights themselves and released a further streamlined redesign of the console during the launch of the Sega Genesis. Mystic Defender
''Mystic Defender'' is a two-dimensional action run and gun video game released for the Sega Genesis. Originally titled in Japan and based on the anime/manga ''Kujaku Ō'', it is the sequel to ''Spellcaster (video game), SpellCaster'' for the Master System. Plot ''Mystic Defender'' takes place in an alternate Japan fantasy setting in which the anarchistic sorcerer Zareth kidnaps a young woman named Alexandra. Zareth plans to use Alexandra as a sacrifice for the resurrecting of an ancient and evil god known as Zao. Not long after the kidnapping, Zareth's plan becomes apparent as Azuchi castle - the dwelling of Zao - rises from the waters.
