The Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia is a motorcycle speedway event that is a part of the Speedway Grand Prix series (the world championship. History From 2006 until 2017 the Grand Prix was held at the Latvijas Spīdveja Centrs. In 2023, the event returned to Latvia but at the new venue known as Riga Speedway Stadium. The 2023 event was won by Bartosz Zmarzlik, which equalled the 22 career Grand Prix wins of fellow Pole Tomasz Gollob. Riga Speedway Stadium
The Riga Speedway Stadium or the Biķernieki Speedway Stadium is a multi-use stadium in the Eastern part of Riga, Latvia. The stadium is the venue for the 2023 World Championship round known as the Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia and the Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship. The speedway track which is adjacent to the Biķernieki Complex Sports Base was first constructed in 1976 and held several editions of the Soviet Union Speedway Championship before falling into disrepair. However, in 2014 the track was renovated and has even hosted a drift race car meeting that normally tales place on the larger adjacent circuit. In 2023, the venue hosted both the Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia and the 2023 Speedway of Nations 2. Krzysztof Kasprzak (; born 18 July 1984 in Leszno, Poland) is an international speedway rider who became World Under-21 Champion in 2005 and won the silver medal during the 2014 Speedway Grand Prix. Greg Hancock
Gregory Alan Hancock (born June 3, 1970 in Whittier, California) is an American former professional motorcycle speedway rider. As of 2023, he was one of only six riders to have won the individual World Championship four or more times. In addition to his four Speedway World Championships he won the Speedway World Team Cup with the USA speedway team on three occasions. Hancock appeared in all but one of the Grand Prix series, since its creation in 1995 until 2019. Career Hancock first came to the United Kingdom at the end of the 1988 speedway season to ride exhibition races with fellow 18-year-old Californian Billy Hamill. Tomasz Robert Gollob (; born 11 April 1971 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is a former Polish motorcycle speedway rider. He appeared in every Speedway Grand Prix series between its inaugural season in 1995 and 2013. His brother Jacek is also a speedway rider. Career summary Tomasz Gollob spent almost all of his career with hometown club Bydgoszcz until he moved to Unia Tarnów in 2004. He has won the Polish Individual Championship eight times (between 1992 and 2009) and the Polish Pairs Championship ten times. He has also won the Polish Grand Prix eight times in thirteen years.
