Special Task And Rescue
The Special Task and Rescue ( ms, Pasukan Tindakan Khas dan Penyelamat APMM – PTK APMM, Jawi: ''ڤاسوكن تيندقن خاص دان ڤڽلامت ماريتيم'') or STAR is the maritime tactical unit of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA; internationally known as Malaysia Coast Guard) established to protect the local maritime assets of Malaysia. The mission and responsibility of this unit include the commencement of rescue mission in a difficult underwater situation, rescuing accident victims at sea, and searching ships tactically in the event this is required. The Pasukan Khas Laut (''Naval Special Warfare Forces,'' Jawi: ), commonly abbreviated to PASKAL, is the principal special operations force of the Royal Malaysian Navy. PASKAL's task is to conduct small-unit maritime military operations that originate from, and return to a river, ocean, swamp, delta or coastline. Pulau Indah ("Beautiful Island", formerly known as ''Pulau Lumut'') is an island in Klang District, Selangor, Malaysia with a population of around 20,000 people overall. Malaysia's largest port, West Port, Port Klang, is on the island. There are two bridges linking the island to the mainland: the Pulau Indah Expressway bridge which is an extension of the KESAS after Pandamaran; and the SKVE bridge which links Pulau Indah to Carey Island and to Teluk Panglima Garang. The Deployable Operations Group (DOG) was a United States Coast Guard command that provided properly equipped, trained and organized Deployable Specialized Forces (DSF), which still exist today, to the Coast Guard, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Department of Defense (DoD) and inter-agency operational and tactical commanders. A Maritime Safety and Security Team, or MSST, is a counter-terrorism team of the United States Coast Guard established to protect local maritime assets. It is also a harbor and inshore patrol and security team that includes detecting and, if necessary, stopping or arresting submerged divers, using the Underwater Port Security System.
