José Suárez (actor)
José Suárez (19 September 1919 – 6 August 1981) was a Spanish film actor. Career José Suárez made his debut in a short role in ''Altar Mayor'' (1944), a very conventional film, whose director, Gonzalo Delgrás, had paid attention to him in his work as a train conductor in Asturias. He played increasingly important roles in following Delgrás's movies and by 1948 he was already a lead actor. He then became very popular in Spain along the late 40s and early 50s, as one of the main wikt:heartthrob, heartthrobs of the Spanish cinema, along with his contemporaries Francisco Rabal, Jorge Mistral and Alfredo Mayo. Nevertheless, he performed remarkably in three outstanding dramas, namely ''Brigada criminal'' (1950), ''Condenados'' (1953) and ''Así es Madrid'' (1953), in the screen version of Antonio Buero Vallejo, Buero Vallejo`s most famous play, ''Historia de una escalera'' (1950), and in the Historical film, historical superproduction (for Spanish standards) ''Alba de América ... Rossano Brazzi
Rossano Brazzi (18 September 1916 – 24 December 1994) was an Italian actor. Biography Brazzi was born in Bologna, Italy, the son of Maria Ghedini and Adelmo Brazzi, an employee of the Rizzoli shoe factory. He was named after Rossano Veneto, where his father was stationed during his military service in World War I. Brazzi attended San Marco University in Florence, Italy, where he was raised from the age of four. He was a lawyer before becoming an actor and made his film debut in 1939. He moved to Hollywood in 1948 and was propelled to international fame with his role in the English-language film ''Three Coins in the Fountain (film), Three Coins in the Fountain'' (1954), followed by the leading male role in David Lean's ''Summertime (1955 film), Summertime'' (1955), opposite Katharine Hepburn. Ladislao Vajda
Ladislao Vajda (born Weisz László; 18 August 1906, Budapest – 25 March 1965, Barcelona) was a Hungarian-Spanish film director who made films in Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy and West Germany. Biography He was born in Budapest, his father being an actor and screenwriter. Vajda started his career as film editor (even though he also worked as artistic designer and writer) for different directors, such as Billy Wilder and Henry Koster. Eventually, he undertook his first directorial effort in his native country, Hungary. Before World War II he became established in Italy, where he directed two movies: ''La zia smemorata'' (1940) and ' (1941). Finally, he moved to Spain, where he continued directing films. The first film from his Spanish period was ''Se vende un palacio'' ('' A Palace for Sale''), released in 1943. ''Condemned to Hang'' or ''Flesh for the Gallows'' (Spanish: ''Carne de horca'', Italian: ''Il terrore dell'Andalusia'') is a 1953 Italian-Spanish historical adventure film directed by Ladislao Vajda and starring Rossano Brazzi, Fosco Giachetti and Emma Penella.Mira p.237 The film portrays the bandits of nineteenth century Andalucía. The film's art direction was by Alberto Boccianti. Synopsis The life of the rebel and vicious Juan Pablo de Osuna changes when his father, a rich cattleman, is murdered by Lucero, a cruel bandit of The Sierra Morena. Looking for revenge Juan Pablo is wrongfully accused and everybody believes that he is a murderer, even Lucero's gang. He becomes member of the gang and Lucero confides him. Juan Pablo discovers that a rich man from the city of Ronda gives information about the stagecoach to the bandits, in exchange of a part of the bounty.
