Spain In The Eurovision Song Contest 1969
Spain hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 at the Teatro Real in Madrid, after Massiel won the 1968 contest with "La, la, la". TVE internally selected Salomé to represent the country at the contest. The song, "Vivo cantando", was selected through a national final. Before Eurovision National final The national final took place at the Teatro Balear in Palma de Mallorca from February 20 to 22, hosted by Marisa Medina and Joaquín Prat. Salomé had already been selected as the singer, but the ten candidate songs were performed twice, once by her and once by another performer. At Eurovision Salomé was the third to perform in the running order, following the Luxembourg and preceding Monaco. Salomé (singer)
Maria Rosa Marco Poquet (; born 21 June 1939), better known by her stage name Salomé (, ), is a Spanish singer. Salomé was born in Barcelona, Spain. She was one of the four winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 with the song "Vivo cantando". Biography She began her career in Radio Barcelona. Since then, she has continued her musical career combining it with television appearances as hostess. She has performed as opening act for Frank Sinatra. By 1963 she had recorded more than forty songs for record companies Iberofón and Zafiro. In 1963 she won the 5th Festival de la Canción Mediterránea de Barcelona music contest with her song in Catalan, "Se'n va anar". Joaquín Prat Carreras (27 April 1927 – 3 June 1995) was one of the best-known Spanish radio and television presenters. Biography Joaquín Prat was born in Xàtiva on 27 April 1927. He earned a licentiate in Law, and before becoming famous, worked as an administrative officer. In 1959 he joined Radio Nacional de España. He went on to work on more than 20 radio programs. He appeared on Cadena SER until 1987, with iconic shows such as ''Mañanas de Radio Madrid'', ', ''Radio Madrid madrugada'', and ''Carrusel Deportivo''. Spain has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 61 times since making its debut in , where they finished ninth. Since , Spain has been one of the " Big Five" countries, along with , , and the , that are automatically prequalified for the final each year as they are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). "Vivo cantando" (; "I Live Singing") is a song recorded by Spanish singer Salomé. The song was written by María José de Cerato and Aniano Alcalde, and it was produced by Augusto Algueró. It is best known as the at the Eurovision Song Contest 1969. "La, la, la" is a song recorded by Spanish singer Massiel, written by Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa. It is best known as the Spanish winning entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1968 in London.
