Spain, represented by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Since the nation's official debut in 1920, Spanish athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games except for two; the 1936 Summer Olympics in Nazi Germany, and the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, as a protest against the Soviet invasion of Hungary. Tennis At The 2016 Summer Olympics
The tennis tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held at the Olympic Tennis Centre from 6 to 14 August. The competition was played on a fast hardcourt surface used in numerous North American tournaments that aims to minimize disruption for players. Initially a total of 172 players were expected to compete in five events: singles and doubles for both men and women and the return of the mixed doubles for the second consecutive time. However, eventually 105 male and 94 female players were granted places in the draws. Silvia Domínguez Fernández (born 31 January 1987) is a Spanish basketball player for Perfumerías Avenida and the Spain women's national basketball team. She won three EuroLeague Women and multiple medals for Spain. Club career Domínguez played basketball from a very young age in school clubs in or around Barcelona and Badalona. She moved to Madrid to play for CB Estudiantes at 17, before being transferred to CB Avenida in 2006, becoming a key figure of the team as well as captain, winning the 2010–11 EuroLeague. Anna Cruz Lebrato (born 27 October 1986) is a Spanish professional basketball player, currently playing for Spanish team Barça CBS (F.C.Barcelona). She developed her professional career in several clubs in Spain, Russia, Turkey and the United States, and had 178 caps for the Spain's national basketball team from 2009 to 2019, winning a total of eight medals. A total of 172 athletes competed in five events: men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
