Space Camp Hall Of Fame
Space Camp is an educational camp in Huntsville, Alabama, on the grounds of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center museum near NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. It provides residential and educational programs for children and adults on themes such as space exploration, aviation and robotics. The camp is run by a state government agency, the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission. More than 900,000 campers have graduated since 1982, including several who became astronauts. History Space Camp was founded in 1982 as an educational camp using the United States space program as a basis to promote math and science to children. Huntsville, Alabama
Huntsville is a city in Madison County, Limestone County, and Morgan County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat of Madison County. Located in the Appalachian region of northern Alabama, Huntsville is the most populous city in the state. Huntsville was founded within the Mississippi Territory in 1805 and became an incorporated town in 1811. When Alabama was admitted as a state in 1819, Huntsville was designated for a year as the first capital, before that was moved to more central settlements. ''SpaceCamp'' is a 1986 American science fiction adventure film inspired by the U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. Directed by Harry Winer, story by Patrick Bailey and Larry B. Williams, screenplay by Clifford Green (as W. W. Wicket) and Casey T. Mitchell, the film stars Kate Capshaw, Kelly Preston, Larry B. Scott, Lea Thompson, Tate Donovan, and Leaf Phoenix. ''SpaceCamp'' received mixed reviews and is famous for being a "marketing nightmare," as it was released less than five months after the Space Shuttle ''Challenger'' accident of January 28, 1986 (although filming was completed before the disaster occurred). Bobak Ferdowsi ( fa, بابک فردوسی, ; born November 7, 1979) is a flight engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He served on the '' Cassini–Huygens'' and Mars Science Laboratory ''Curiosity'' missions. Susanna Phillips (Huntington) is an American singer who has sung leading lyric soprano roles at leading American and international opera houses. Early life and education Phillips was born in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in Huntsville where she attended Randolph School.
