Southern Ohio Conference
The Southern Ohio Conference (S.O.C.) is an athletic conference in Ohio. The conference is also a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the governing body of Ohio athletics. There are currently seventeen member schools in the conference. The S.O.C. includes teams from four different Ohio counties - Jackson County ( Oak Hill High School), Lawrence County ( St. Joe High School and Symmes Valley High School), Pike County ( Waverly High School, Eastern High School, and Western High School), and Scioto County ( Clay High School, Green High School, Glenwood High School, Sciotoville Community School, Valley High School, Northwest High School, Minford High School, Portsmouth West High School, Notre Dame High School, South Webster High School, and Wheelersburg High School). Ohio High School Athletic Association
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. The OHSAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports. Membership There are approximately 820 member high schools and 850 more schools in the 7th-8th grade division of the OHSAA. Most public and private high schools in Ohio belong to the OHSAA. Valley High School (Ohio)
Valley High School (VHS) is a public high school in Lucasville, Ohio in Scioto County in Southern Ohio. It is the only high school in the Valley Local School District. Their nickname is the Indians, and their colors are purple and gold. Campus The high school building is located on a large property adjacent to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The Valley Elementary School building sits on the same property northeast of the high school building. The local Kiwanis group assisted in the setting up of playground equipment on the side of the elementary building. Both the high school and elementary were built in 1992-1993 and were scheduled to begin holding classes after the Easter break in the spring of 1993. However, a prisoner uprising on Easter Sunday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, commonly referred to as the Lucasville Prison Riot, prevented the opening of the buildings. South Point High School is a public high school in South Point, Ohio. It is the only high school in the South Point Local School District. The school is operated by principal Doug Graham and assistant principal Jeff Sanders. The district's mascot nickname is The Pointers. Ohio High School Athletic Conferences
This is a list of high school athletic conferences in Ohio, separated by Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) region. Some conferences have schools in multiple regions, and will be listed in all applicable regions. However, the conference information is on the region page where the most schools are classified in. Conference membership in Ohio is voluntary, rather than assigned by the state association like in some states. While this ensures that many rivalries stay intact regardless of classification changes, it also means schools can choose to change conferences pending acceptance into a different conference, or in rare cases, can be forced out of a conference. Wheelersburg High School
Wheelersburg High School (WHS) is a public high school in Wheelersburg, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Wheelersburg Local School District, which is located in Porter Township along the northern bank of the Ohio River in Southern Ohio.
