Southern Highlands Line
The Southern Highlands Line is an Intercity rail service operated by NSW TrainLink that services the Macarthur, Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands regions of New South Wales. First operating in 1869, the service runs from across the Main Southern railway line through to , with peak hour services extending the route to . The railway service operates alongside a bus route from to , operating on the route of the Picton – Mittagong loop railway line, and a regional coach service from to on the South Coast Line, operating on the corridor of the Unanderra–Moss Vale railway line. One of only two routes on the NSW TrainLink intercity network to run entirely on non-electrified railway lines, the Southern Highlands Line is operated with a rolling stock solely consisting of Endeavour railcars, with most services only using two cars. NSW TrainLink is a train and coach operator in Australia, providing services throughout New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, along with limited interstate services into Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Its primary intercity and regional services are spread throughout five major rail lines, operating out of Sydney's Central railway station. NSW TrainLink was formed on 1 July 2013 when RailCorp was restructured and CountryLink was merged with the intercity services of CityRail. Bathurst Bullet
The Bathurst Bullet is an express passenger train on the Blue Mountains Line operated by NSW TrainLink between Sydney and Bathurst. The service operates from Bathurst towards Sydney in the morning, and returns in the afternoon. History At the 2011 election, the incoming Liberal/National coalition government committed to introduce a day return service from Bathurst to Sydney for those working in Sydney. Bathurst was already served by the daily '' Central West XPT'' and weekly ''Outback Xplorer'' services, but these were morning departures from Sydney, returning in the afternoon. The last day return service to Sydney had ceased in November 1988, being replaced by road coach services connecting with train services at Lithgow. Griffith Railway Station
Griffith railway station is located on the Yanco-Griffith line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the city of Griffith. History Griffith station opened on 3 July 1916 when the Temora-Roto line was extended from Barellan. It served as the terminus until the line was extended to Hillston on 18 June 1923. In 1928, it became a junction station when the Yanco-Griffith line opened from Yanco. Canberra Railway Station
Canberra railway station is located on thNSW TrainLink Regional Southern Linein the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. It is located in the Canberra suburb of Kingston. History In March 1913, work began on a new 8.5 kilometre rail link from Queanbeyan to the Capital, with a new branch of on the Bombala line. The line was constructed, managed, and operated by the New South Wales Public Works Department on behalf of the Government of Australia. It came under the control of the Commonwealth Railways in 1927. The station building opened on 21 April 1924. Passenger services had run between the Kingston Powerhouse and Queanbeyan for around six months prior to the station opening. In October 1926 the Great White Train visited Canberra station, attracting nearly 2,500 people. New South Wales Xplorer
The Xplorer is a class of diesel multiple unit trains built by ABB Transportation. Initially entering service in October 1993, the Xplorers are mechanically identical to the Endeavour Railcars, though feature a higher level of passenger amenity. All 23 carriages were built in Dandenong, Victoria. The Xplorers currently operate under NSW TrainLink, running on the regional Main North, Main Western and Main Southern lines throughout New South Wales. New South Wales XPT
The New South Wales ''XPT'' (short for eXpress Passenger Train) is a class of diesel-powered passenger trains built by Comeng and ABB Transportation. Based on the British Rail designed Intercity 125 High Speed Train, each XPT set is made up of two XP Power Cars in a push-pull formation coupled to between four and seven carriages. Wollongong Railway Station
Wollongong railway station is a heritage-listed railway station on the South Coast railway line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the central business district of Wollongong. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The original Wollongong railway station (Platform 2) was constructed in 1887. The Platform 2 refreshment room, which is still in use today, was constructed in 1890. The Platform 1 station and refreshment room were constructed in 1923 and 1926 respectively. Bundanoon Railway Station
Bundanoon railway station is a heritage-listed railway station on the Main South line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the small town of Bundanoon. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The station opened on 6 August 1868 as Jordans Crossing, being renamed Jordans Siding in 1878 and finally Bundanoon in 1881. The station has a signal box on platform 2 which controls a set of points just to the north of the station. Until the 2005 timetable one afternoon train a day terminated using this setup, the train arriving on platform 1 using the set of points, and departing back towards Campbelltown. This practice was discontinued, the signal box and points closed and the route curtailed to end at Moss Vale. Bundanoon station celebrated 150 years since it opened on Sunday 5 August 2018. Campbelltown railway station is located on the Main South line, serving the Sydney suburb of Campbelltown.
