The Durham Public Schools district is a public school district in Durham, North Carolina. Formed in 1992 with the merger of Durham's previous two school districts, it is 8th largest school system in North Carolina as of November 2020. There are currently 55 public schools in the system, consisting of 31 elementary (K-5), 9 middle (6-8), 2 secondary (6-12), 11 high (9-12), 1 alternative, 1 hospital school, and 1 virtual academy (K-12). Dimple Ajmera
Dimple Tansen Ajmera is an American politician and accountant who has served on the Charlotte City Council since 2017. Ajmera is the first Asian-American and youngest woman to ever hold this position. In 2021, she became the second sitting Charlotte City Council member to give birth since the arrival of her daughter in 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Ajmera was a candidate for North Carolina State Treasurer in the 2020 election. Early life and education Dimple Tansen Ajmera was born in Surat, India. Clyde Edgerton
Clyde Edgerton (born May 20, 1944) is an American author. He has published a dozen books, most of them novels, two of which have been adapted for film. He is also a professor, teaching creative writing. Biography Edgerton was born in Durham, North Carolina and grew up in the small town of Bethesda, North Carolina. He was the only child of Truma and Ernest Edgerton, who came from families of cotton and tobacco farmers, respectively. In 1962 Edgerton enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, eventually majoring in English. During this time he was a student in the Air Force ROTC program where he learned to fly a small plane. After graduating in 1966, he entered the Air Force and served five years as a fighter pilot in the United States, Korea, Japan, and Thailand. David Douglas Garrard (born February 14, 1978) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons, primarily with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played college football at East Carolina and was selected by the Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. Garrard became the team's starting quarterback in 2007, leading them to their first playoff win since 1999. Kendall Hinton (born February 19, 1997) is an American football wide receiver for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Wake Forest as a quarterback and wide receiver and signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2020. That season he made an appearance as an emergency quarterback following the rest of the team's quarterbacks being placed in COVID-19 quarantine for a week.
