Southeast Wisconsin Transit System
Southeast Wisconsin Transit System is a marketing partnership of five public transit agencies covering the Greater Milwaukee Area in the United States. These operators provide local or intercounty commuter service in the counties of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Racine County, Wisconsin, Racine, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, Kenosha, and Waukesha County, Wisconsin, Waukesha. Washington County, WI, Washington County and Ozaukee County were formerly a part of the partnership until 2023 and 2024 when their county boards respectively elected to discontinue their transit service without replacement. The partnership is not exclusive, each agency or company maintains separate marketing departments and advertising programs. The partnership does not include joint or coordinated operations, interline fares or transfers, coordinated grant or funding, or coordinated expense sharing as that type of cooperation would be barred by state law. Western Kenosha County Transit
Western Kenosha County Transit is a regional bus service operating route deviation and door-to-door service throughout Kenosha County, Wisconsin, mainly serving the rural areas west of Interstate 94. Western Kenosha County Transit runs a weekday route deviation service between Twin Lakes and the city of Kenosha. There is also a weekday rush hour commuter shuttle between Twin Lakes and the Metra Train Station in Antioch, Illinois. Expanded regional routes offer weekly trips to Antioch and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, with home pick-up service available. The door-to-door service does not require certification and is open to the general public. Riders must call at least one day in advance to schedule a door-to-door trip. Kenosha Area Transit is a city-owned public transportation agency based in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The system maintains a fleet of 42 buses and seven streetcars operating on seven bus routes and one streetcar route throughout the City of Kenosha and Village of Pleasant Prairie. Ryde Racine is a public transportation agency, operated by First Transit, serving the city of Racine and village of Mount Pleasant in southeastern Wisconsin. WOW Counties
WOW counties is a common media term in southeastern Wisconsin in the United States which refers to the initials of Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington counties. They lie to the west, north, and northwest of Milwaukee, respectively, and are part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Collectively, the three counties have 2020 population of 635,242. Like the collar counties surrounding Chicago, these counties have a primarily white population, and unusually so considering the trend of suburbs around cities in the Rust Belt region becoming more racially diverse.
