South Wonston
South Wonston is a village on the outskirts of the City of Winchester district of Hampshire, England. The population of the parish of South Wonston was estimated in 2017 to be 2,870. Governance South Wonston is part of the Wonston and Micheldever ward which elects three councillors to Winchester City Council elections, Winchester City Council, as well as the wider Winchester Downlands ward which Hampshire County Council elections, elects a single councillor to Hampshire County Council. Education South Wonston Primary School is situated in the centre of the village on Downs Road. Attached to the school is the church of St Margaret's, which the school uses for functions. The village does not have its own secondary schools, but the majority of pupils continue onto Henry Beaufort School, in Harestock. The City of Winchester () is a local government district in Hampshire, England, with a city status. The district covers the ancient settlement of the city of Winchester itself, but also covers a large area of central Hampshire including Bishop's Waltham, Denmead, New Alresford, and Kings Worthy (for a full list of these, see the "Settlements and parishes" section below), for a total area of . The 2011 Census recorded the population of the district as 116,600. The district was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by the merger of the City of Winchester with Droxford Rural District and part of Winchester Rural District. Henry Beaufort School
Henry Beaufort School is a secondary school in Harestock, a suburb of Winchester, in the county of Hampshire in England. History The school was built in 1971 as the first purpose-built, co-educational, comprehensive school in Winchester to serve the new developments created by the new Teg Down, Weeke Manor, and Harestock estates. The school had a full complement of year 7 students and about half a complement of year 8 students in its first year of operation. The school grew each year until 1975, when it had a full five years of intake. The school is named after Henry Beaufort, who was Bishop of Winchester and three times Lord Chancellor. On September 10 2020, three students received life-changing facial trauma after the Stagecoach bus carrying them to school collided with a bridge it was too high to pass under.
