South Milwaukee High School
South Milwaukee High School, "Home of the Rockets," is a high school located in the city of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, a suburb of Milwaukee. Approximately 1,000 students attend the high school. The school is operated by the School District of South Milwaukee. Extracurricular activities A variety of sports and activities are offered at South Milwaukee High School. The athletic teams compete in the Woodland Conference of the WIAA. SMHS won state championships in boys' cross country in 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1965. Kurt Nimphius (born March 13, 1958) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Nimphius played nine seasons in the NBA after his collegiate career at Arizona State University. Early life Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nimphius was the son of Karl and Esther Nimphius and was raised with siblings Kris and Karla. His father and uncles operated the Nimphius Boat Company and his father was a woodworking teacher, who built the family home himself. The Crusher (wrestler)
Reginald Lisowski (July 11, 1926 – October 22, 2005) was an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, The Crusher (sometimes Crusher Lisowski to distinguish him from other Crushers, such as Crusher Blackwell). In his obituary, ''The Washington Post'' described him as "a professional wrestler whose blue-collar bona fides made him beloved among working class fans for 40 years". Lauren Kleppin (born November 22, 1988) is an American long-distance runner. Kleppin competes in marathon, half-marathon, and numerous road distances. She holds the second highest American finish at the Los Angeles Marathon since 2012, having finished third in 2014. She is also a ten-time NCAA All-American, twice in USA Cross Country Championships, cross country and eight times in track and field. Jerry Dreva (1945–1997) was an artist, writer, performer, activist, and teacher from South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a principal proponent of Mail art. His efforts were concentrated in the areas of self-documentation and performance, often employing subterfuge and a wry sense of humor. He was a founding member (with Robert J. Lambert) of the conceptual rock band Les Petites Bon-Bons. Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) is the regulatory body for all high school sports in Wisconsin. Its history dates to 1895, making it the earliest continually existing high school athletic organization in the country. It also provides the licensing program for more than 10,000 officials in the state, and oversees junior high or middle school athletics in about 100 of the state's nearly 400 school districts.
