South Korea Men's National Volleyball Team
The South Korea men's national volleyball team ( ko, 대한민국 남자 배구 국가대표팀) represents South Korea in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches, governed by Korea Volleyball Association. The Republic of Korea (ROK) has competed in the Olympic Games eight times, but has not featured since the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The national team's best performance at the Olympic Games was 5th place at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, California, United States. The national team at the FIVB World Championship competed nine times, with their best result at 4th place in 1978. On continental level, The national team won three gold medals at the Asian Games in 1978, 2002 and 2006. And at the Asian Championship, the national team won four gold medals, two of these was at home in 1989 Seoul and 2001 Changwon and the other two are in 1993 and 2003. Korea Volleyball Association
The Korea Volleyball Association (KVA) (hangul : 대한민국배구협회) is the governing body for volleyball in South Korea. It is a member of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee. It has exclusive rights to represent South Korea, such as the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, FIVB and the Asian Volleyball Confederation, AVC, to the International Sports Organization. The KVA is responsible for organizing the South Korea men's national volleyball team and South Korea women's national volleyball team. It was launched in March, 1946. In 2007, it became a corporation aggregate. Indoor volleyball was contested at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. All matches played at the Al-Rayyan Indoor Hall. Volleyball At The 2002 Asian Games – Men
The men's volleyball tournament at the 2002 Asian Games was held from Tuesday October 2 to Saturday October 13, 2002 in Busan, South Korea. The men's volleyball event was contested for the 12th time at the Asian Games. China and Japan's best players had to miss the event due to the schedule conflicting with the 2002 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Argentina, but South Korea withdrew from the world championship to participate in Asian Games. The 2017 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship was the nineteenth staging of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, the biennial international men's volleyball championship of Asia organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Indonesian Volleyball Federation (PBVSI). The tournament was held in Gresik, Indonesia from 24 July to 1 August 2017. Qualification The 16 AVC member associations submitted their men's national team to the 2017 Asian Championship.
