Korea Volleyball Association
The Korea Volleyball Association (KVA) (hangul : 대한민국배구협회) is the governing body for volleyball in South Korea. It is a member of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee. It has exclusive rights to represent South Korea, such as the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, FIVB and the Asian Volleyball Confederation, AVC, to the International Sports Organization. The KVA is responsible for organizing the South Korea men's national volleyball team and South Korea women's national volleyball team. It was launched in March, 1946. In 2007, it became a corporation aggregate. Korean Language
Korean ( South Korean: , ''hangugeo''; North Korean: , ''chosŏnmal'') is the native language for about 80 million people, mostly of Korean descent. It is the official and national language of both North Korea and South Korea (geographically Korea), but over the past years of political division, the two Koreas have developed some noticeable vocabulary differences. Beyond Korea, the language is recognised as a minority language in parts of China, namely Jilin Province, and specifically Yanbian Prefecture and Changbai County. It is also spoken by Sakhalin Koreans in parts of Sakhalin, the Russian island just north of Japan, and by the in parts of Central Asia. The Asian Volleyball Confederation, commonly known by the acronym AVC, is the continental governing body for the sports of indoor, beach, and grass volleyball in Asia and Oceania. It has 65 member associations, mostly located in the Asia-Pacific region, but excludes four transcontinental countries with territory in both Asia and Europe – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Turkey – along with Armenia, Cyprus, and Israel, which are members of the CEV instead. Volleyball In Asia
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Korea Primary Volleyball Federation
Korea Primary Volleyball Federation(hangul : 한국초등배구연맹) is a subordinate organization of the Korea Volleyball Association. It was founded in 1971. It was established for enhancement of volleyball game in Korean elementary schools and the exchange of information among volleyball leaders. Korean famous female volleyball player Kim Yeon-koung participated in a competition organized by the federation when she was in elementary school. In particular, Lee Byung Seol, the current president of the Federation, was in charge of volleyball at Ansanseo Elementary School at the time and raised Kim Yeon-koung as a volleyball player. Through him, Kim Su-ji and Bae Yoo-na also grew into volleyball players. South Korea Men's National Volleyball Team
The South Korea men's national volleyball team ( ko, 대한민국 남자 배구 국가대표팀) represents South Korea in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches, governed by Korea Volleyball Association. The Republic of Korea (ROK) has competed in the Olympic Games eight times, but has not featured since the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The national team's best performance at the Olympic Games was 5th place at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, California, United States. The national team at the FIVB World Championship competed nine times, with their best result at 4th place in 1978. On continental level, The national team won three gold medals at the Asian Games in 1978, 2002 and 2006. The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (, Abbr.: KOC) is the National Olympic Committee of Republic of Korea (competing as Korea) for the Olympic Games movement and inbound sports issue.
