South Hills High School (West Covina, California)
South Hills High School, often known by its abbreviation SHHS, is a public high school located in the hills of the eastern part of West Covina, California. There is a common misconception that it is in Covina, most likely due to the fact that the school is in the Covina-Valley Unified School District rather than the West Covina Unified School District. South Hills opened in the fall of 1964. Architecture The buildings were designed by architect Henry L. Gogerty (1894–1990) in the year 1963. Demographics During the 1993–1994 school year, there were 1,306 students enrolled at the school. This has since grown, with 2,113 students enrolled during the 2007–2008 school year. Currently, enrolment stands at 1,650 students, of which 500 are transfer students on permit from other school districts. Jeremy Dean Giambi (; September 30, 1974 – February 9, 2022) was an American outfielder and first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for four teams from 1998 to 2003, primarily the Oakland Athletics, where he was a teammate of his older brother Jason Giambi during the club's division championship-winning seasons in 2000 and 2001. David Lamont Denson (born January 17, 1995) is an American former professional baseball first baseman and outfielder. He played in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers organization. West Covina High School (WCHS) is a four-year comprehensive secondary school located in West Covina, California, USA. History West Covina High School opened in 1956 on the old Covina High School campus on Citrus Ave. and Puente Ave. as the Spartans. In 1957, the school moved to its new campus, which was built on an old cabbage patch, on Cameron Ave. and Fernwood St. Blue and white were the school colors.
