Soundtrack (EP)
''Soundtrack'' is the first EP released by American rock band Fastball. All four songs debuted previously through their Patreon page before being released on all streaming platforms. Music critic Peter Blackstock says of Fastball's EP, " oundtrackcontinues their winning roll. Scalzo’s hard-hitting 'Chump Change' and pop-sweet 'Electric Cool-Aide' balance against Zuniga’s moodier 'House on the Edge of the World'; and the midtempo title track." All four songs from the EP were included in Fastball's ninth studio album, ''The Deep End.'' Background The EP was recorded in June 2021, produced by Steve Berlin, and engineered by Charlie Kramsky. Berlin also produced the band's '' The Help Machine'' album. On the premiere episode of The Austin Downbeat, Zuniga explained the band "ellout of love with this old idea" of traditional album releases, and has decided to release EPs instead. Fastball is an American rock band that formed in Austin, Texas in 1995. The band originally called themselves Magneto U.S.A. but changed their name after signing with Hollywood Records. In 1998, their album ''All the Pain Money Can Buy'' reached platinum sales within six months of its release, and stayed on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart for a year. Their songs " The Way" and " Out of My Head" reached #1 and #14 on ''Billboards Adult Alternative Songs chart. In addition, the group has been nominated for two Grammy Awards – Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "The Way", and Best Long Form Music Video for their promotional video "The Way". They also received five The Austin Chronicle awards: 1998's Album of the Year, Best Video, Best Single/EP, Band of the Year, and 1995's Best Pop Band. Steven M. Berlin (born September 14, 1955, Philadelphia) is an American saxophonist, keyboardist and record producer, best known as a member of the rock group Los Lobos and, before that, Top Jimmy & the Rhythm Pigs, the Blasters, and the Flesh Eaters. The Help Machine
''The Help Machine'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band Fastball. Background Produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, Berlin personally selected the tracks for the album from a list of songs provided to him by Tony Scalzo and Miles Zuniga. Berlin recruited bassist Bruce Hughes to play bass, reuniting Hughes with band, and allowing him to take over bass duties from Scalzo. This freed Scalzo to concentrate on keyboards and guitar. This album marks the first time since ''The Harsh Light of Day'' that a Fastball album does not feature songs co-written by Scalzo and Zuniga. The first single off of the album, ''The Help Machine,'' addresses the effects of consumerism. According to Zuniga, "he song isjust about emptiness and the feeling that things that are supposed to make us happy don't." Tony Scalzo
Tony Scalzo (born May 6, 1964 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American rock musician and songwriter best known as a founding member of the band Fastball. Early life Tony Scalzo was born in Hawaii to a mother from Arizona and an Italian-American father from New Jersey but moved quite often as a child because his father was a U.S. Marine. Scalzo began playing bass guitar in the 1980s and soon began forming bands. He has four children: Scarlett, Claudia, Gabriel, and Henry Scalzo. Career In 1994, Scalzo left his punk/pop group The Goods and made the decision to relocate to Austin, Texas to join the Beaver Nelson Band. However, he ended up leaving the group and helped form the band Fastball. The new group was composed of Scalzo and two of his former bandmates, Joey Shuffield and Miles Zuniga. The fastball is the most common type of pitch thrown by pitchers in baseball and softball. "Power pitchers," such as former American major leaguers Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens, rely on speed to prevent the ball from being hit and have thrown fastballs at speeds of (officially) and up to (unofficially). Pitchers who throw more slowly can put movement on the ball, or throw it on the outside of home plate where batters can't easily reach it. Fastballs are usually thrown with a backspin so that the Magnus effect creates an upward force on the ball.
