The Sorrento Peninsula or Sorrentine Peninsula is a peninsula located in southern Italy which separates the Gulf of Naples to the north from the Gulf of Salerno to the south. Geography Overview The peninsula is named after its main town, Sorrento, which is located on the north (Gulf of Naples) coast. The Amalfi Coast is located on the southern side. The Lattari Mountains form the geographical backbone of the peninsula. The island of Capri lies off the western tip of the peninsula in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The whole area is an important tourist destination. Furore is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. Furore is located on the Amalfi Coast. Geography The municipality of Furore expands from sea level, where there is the hamlet of Fiordo di Furore, and a little civil parish partly belonging to Praiano named Marina di Praia, up to Agerola (550 meters above sea level). Conca Dei Marini
Conca dei Marini (Campanian: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. It is situated on a hill close to the coast and between Amalfi and Furore. It was perhaps founded by the Etruscans with the name of Cossa, and was conquered by the Romans in 272 BC. In the early Middle Ages, it was a trading base of the Republic of Amalfi. In 1543 it was sacked by Turkish pirates. The port maintained a certain degree of trades until the 19th century, and was also the seat of a tonnara until 1956. Cetara, Campania
Cetara is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. It is located in the territory of the Amalfi Coast. History The village was originally a settlement for a group of armed Muslims in 880. Characterized to be a village of fishermen (especially of tuna), its name take origins probably from the Latin word ''Cetaria'' (in Greek ''Ketèia''), meaning almadraba (in Italian ''tonnara''); or ''cetari'', meaning fishmongers of big fishes. Atrani
Atrani is a city and ''comune'' on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. It is located to the east of Amalfi, several minutes drive down the coast. The municipality of Atrani has a surface area 0.12 km2, making it the smallest in Italy. Population was 832 in 2020. Geography The town is located between the Civita Hill and Aureo Hill. Atrani is along the valley of the river Dragone, named for a legend saying there once was a terrible dragon that would breathe fire and would hide himself there. Amalfi
