Sophienberg
Sophienberg is a former royal summer retreat located on the Coast Road in Rungsted, Hørsholm Municipality, some 20 km north of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is now operated as a venue for meetings and smaller conferences. History Sophienberg was built by king Christian VI and queen Sophie Magdalene. They had already almost completed the much larger Hirschholm a few kilometers away but wanted a hideaway closer to the coast from which it would be possible to enjoy the view of the water and the passing ships. Court architect Nicolai Eigtved began the construction of a small pavilion in 1742 but an expansion began immediately after its completion and the house was therefore not completed until 1746. The Baroque-style house had a five-bay avant-corps (median risalit) topped by a copper clad dome and a projecting four-bay pavilion at each end of the facade. Nicolai Eigtved
Nicolai Eigtved, also known as Niels Eigtved (4 June 1701 – 7 June 1754) was a Danish architect. He introduced and was the leading proponent of the French rococo or late baroque style in Danish architecture during the 1730s–1740s. He designed and built some of the most prominent buildings of his time, a number of which still stand to this day. He also played an important role in the establishment of the Royal Danish Academy of Art (''Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi''), and was its first native-born leader. Youth and early training He was born Niels Madsen on the farm in the village of Egtved in the parish of Haraldsted on the island of Zealand, Denmark to Mads Nielsen and Dorthe Hansdatter. Arnoldus Von Falkenskiold
Arnoldus von Falkenskiold (11 June 1743–15 May 1819) was a Danish Noble courtier, colonel and major landowner who is renowned for his agricultural reforms in Denmark. He was the son of nobleman Martin Dyssel von Falkenskiold and brother of general Otto von Falkenskiold who was sentenced to life imprisonment for his support of privy councillor Count Johann Struensee but later released. Arnoldus was the owner of Sæbygård Castle at Kalundborg and Sophienberg Castle at Hørsholm and founded the manors of Falkenhøj (1787) and Frihedslund (1790). Early life Falkenskiold was born on 1 June 1743 in Kalundborg, the son of lieutenant colonel Martin Morten Düssel Falkenskiold and Dorothea Sophie née Schack. His father's original family name was Dyssel but he had been ennobled by letters patent in 1716 under the name Falkenskiold, thus founding the Falkenskiold noble family. Peter Lange-Müller
Peter Erasmus Lange-Müller (1 December 1850 – 26 February 1926) was a Danish composer and pianist. His compositional style was influenced by Danish folk music and by the work of Robert Schumann; Johannes Brahms; and his Danish countrymen, including J.P.E. Hartmann. Early years Lange-Müller was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark to an affluent family with a background in politics. He spent his childhood painting, reading poetry, and studying music with prominent teachers, including G. Matthison-Hansen. Poor health prevented him from attending school until 1871, when he entered conservatory to study composition. After a year, however, his father decided that he should follow his professional path and enrolled him in Copenhagen University to study political science. He was not suited for a life in politics though, and by 1874 he had become fully immersed in his compositional career. Kokkedal Slot (English: Kokkedal House) is a former country house located in Hørsholm north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is now operated as a 62-room, high-end hotel under the name Kokkedal Slot Copenhagen to distinguish it from Kokkedal Slot in North Jutlandic Island, North Jutland. Josiah ( or ) or Yoshiyahu; la, Iosias was the 16th king of Judah (–609 BCE) who, according to the Hebrew Bible, instituted major religious reforms by removing official worship of gods other than Yahweh.
