Sophie Wright (chef)
Sophie Wright is an English chef and the author of two cookery books. During her training at Westminster Kingsway College she took part in national and international culinary competitions and is still a competitor. She left as both the highest achieving female chef and highest competition chef of the year. Wright has appeared on ''Great Food Live'', ITV ''Daily Cooks'' and ''Food Poker'' on BBC2 BBC Two is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. Westminster Kingsway College
Westminster Kingsway College is a large college for further education in central London with centres in King's Cross in Camden, together with Victoria and Soho centres in Westminster. Founded in 2000 and having origins dating back to 1910, the college is part of Capital City College Group, alongside City and Islington College and The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London. ''Great Food Live'', formerly ''Good Food Live'', was a British magazine programme hosted by Jeni Barnett and broadcast on UKTVFood part of the UKTV Network between 2001 and 2007. Jeni Barnett was joined every day by a chef co-host. The first co-hosts were Simon Rimmer, Paul Hollywood, Ed Baines and Paul Merrett, and later included Antony Worrall Thompson, Brian Turner, Sophie Grigson and Alan Coxon. Guest chefs demonstrated recipes, there were phone-ins, celebrity guests, and features on wine & spirits, new products and speciality foods. GFL was produced by independent production company, Prospect Pictures, its Editor was Elaine Bancroft, and Deputy Editor, Nikki Cooper. ''...Cooks!'' is an ITV television cookery show, hosted by Antony Worrall Thompson, broadcast on the ITV networks between 10 June 2006 to 21 May 2010. Formats There were different names for the show, depending on which day it aired. The Saturday morning show was called ''Saturday Cooks!'', whilst the show that aired during the week was called ''Daily Cooks Challenge''. This series aired in a weekday prime-time slot and from its second series was shot in front of a studio audience. Worrall Thompson, who previously hosted a similar BBC One show, ''Saturday Kitchen'', defected to ITV in June 2006 after being poached from the BBC along with the production company that made the show (Prospect Pictures), in a deal negotiated by Alison Sharman. Food Poker
''Food Poker'' is a BBC tea-time television programme which fuses traditional culinary skills with poker. It is presented by Matt Allwright and voiced over by Jeni Barnett, each episode features four chefs. It was first broadcast on BBC Two between 29 October and 7 December 2007. Format The show involves chefs being dealt two food cards and can use up to three ingredients from five more 'shared ingredient' cards. The chefs then decide in secret what dish they will prepare and then choose either to 'pitch' their idea or 'fold', if they don't believe they can cook anything with the available ingredients. Those who pitch their ideas must do so to the Food Poker Panel, which consists of seven food experts. The panel then vote, using poker chips, for the two dishes they wish to see prepared. There are three rounds, the savoury cook-off, the sweet cook-off and the final showcase cook-off. Once two chefs have been selected by the panel they have 20 minutes to cook their dishes, however ...
