The Sophia River, part of the Pieman River catchment, is a perennial river located in the West Coast region of Tasmania, Australia. Course and features The Sophie River rises below Sophie Peak, part of the West Coast Range within the Granite Tor Conservation Area. The river flows generally west by north and reaches its confluence with the Mackintosh River within Lake Mackintosh. The river descends over its course. A perennial stream is a stream that has continuous flow of surface water throughout the year in at least parts of its catchment during seasons of normal rainfall, Water Supply Paper 494. as opposed to one whose flow is intermittent. In the absence of irregular, prolonged or extreme drought, a perennial stream is a watercourse, or segment, element or emerging body of water which continually delivers groundwater. Lake Murchison is a man-made water reservoir located in the western region of Tasmania, Australia. The lake is situated within the northern part of Tasmania's West Coast Range and is fed by the Murchison River, the George Creek, the Anthony River, and discharge from the Tribute Power Station. Mackintosh Power Station
The Mackintosh Power Station is a conventional hydroelectric power station located in Western Tasmania, Australia. Technical details Part of the Pieman River scheme that comprises four hydroelectric power stations, the Mackintosh Power Station is the second station in the scheme. The power station is located aboveground at the foot of the rock-filled concrete faced Mackintosh Dam across the Mackintosh River and the Tullabardine Dam across the Tullabardine Creek that together form Lake Mackintosh. Water from the lake is fed to the power station by a -long single tunnel. The Pieman River is a major perennial river located in the west coast region of Tasmania, Australia. Lake Mackintosh
Lake Mackintosh is a reservoir with a surface area of that forms part of the Pieman power development running north–south past Mount Farrell, adjacent to the town of Tullah in Tasmania. Features Fed by the damming of the Mackintosh, Sophia, Fury, Southwell, and Brougham rivers and Mackintosh Creek, water from the lake feeds Mackintosh Power Station through Lake Rosebery. The lake was created in the 1980s and the main basin of the lake was originally a Button Grass swamp prior to inundation. Lake Mackintosh is impounded by two dams, the main Mackintosh Dam and the smaller Tullabardine Dam. The lake's deepest point is roughly deep at the base of the main dam.
