The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'' in 2003, by order of first appearance. Tony Stewart Tony Stewart made his first screen appearance on 2 March 2003. The character was originally played by Alan Igbon, but Terence Maynard took over the role in 2014. Tony is Jason Grimshaw's (Ryan Thomas) father. On 15 November 2013, it was announced that Tony would be returning to Coronation Street in 2014, with actor Terence Maynard taking over the role from Igbon. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. Kate Ford
Kate Ford (born 29 December 1976) is an English actress. She is known for her portrayal of Tracy Barlow in the ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'' (2002–2007, 2010–present). Ford was born in Salford, Greater Manchester. She attended Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria and Blackpool and The Fylde College, Lancashire. She later trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Career Kate’s earliest work is in the music video for The Beatles song "Free as a Bird" in 1995. Ciaran McCarthy
Ciaran McCarthy is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', portrayed by Keith Duffy. He made his first on-screen appearance on 7 August 2002, before departing in 2005. He returned in 2010 until Duffy temporary departed in January 2011 to go on ''Boyzone Tour'', and returned on 3 November 2011. Rovers Return Inn
The Rovers Return Inn is a fictional pub in the long-running British soap opera '' Coronation Street''. The Rovers Return occupies a corner of the fictional Coronation Street and Rosamund Street set location in the show. The pub was built by the fictional brewery Newton and Ridley. In the programme, the Rovers Return Inn has been a free house since 1995, although the brewery continues to supply it. The name comes from the Ye Olde Rovers Return in Withy Grove, Manchester, a 14th-century building that became a licensed public house but ceased to be so in 1924 and was demolished in 1958. The fictional pub has had three in-universe layouts. The original layout generally consisted of the style of a public bar. Sally Jane Lindsay (born 8 July 1973) is an English actress and television presenter known for her roles as Shelley Unwin in the long-running ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', Lisa Johnson in the Sky One comedy series '' Mount Pleasant'' and Kath Agnew in the BBC sitcom '' Still Open All Hours''. Early life and career beginnings Lindsay was born in Stockport, Cheshire. Shelley Unwin
Shelley Unwin (also Barlow) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', played by Sally Lindsay. She is the daughter of Bev Unwin (Susie Blake). Shelley's storylines included a bigamous marriage to Peter Barlow ( Chris Gascoyne) and an abusive and controlling relationship with Charlie Stubbs ( Bill Ward), who later left her pregnant. Storylines Shelley comes to the rescue when they are short-staffed at The Rovers.
