''Song for Chao Phraya'' ( th, น้องเมีย; ; lit: ''"wife's younger sister"'') is a 1990 Thai drama film directed by Chatrichalerm Yukol. Summary Sang, a sand merchant who sells sand on the Chao Phraya River from Nakhon Sawan to Bangkok. Prang, his beautiful wife fled him to Bangkok to become the star in order to enhance the well-being of the family. So he cruised to Bangkok to find her when she refused, Sang was so upset that he drank and became a failure. When he was drunk, he tried to rape Tubtim his wife's younger sister, but she managed to escape. Chatrichalerm Yukol
Prince Chatrichalerm Yukol ( th, หม่อมเจ้าชาตรีเฉลิม ยุคล; ; born November 29, 1942), or usually known by his nickname Mui ( th, มุ้ย), is a Thai film director, screenwriter film producer and National Artist Performing Arts branch (Movie and TV Drama director) in 2001. A prolific director since the 1970s, among his films is the 2001 historical epic, ''The Legend of Suriyothai''. A member of the Thai royal family, his official royal title is Mom Chao, or M.C., the most junior title still considered royalty. For ''Suriyothai'' as well as his 2007 historical epic, ''King Naresuan'', Chatrichalerm was backed by Queen Sirikit. Chatchai Plengpanich ( th, ฉัตรชัย เปล่งพานิช; born January 17, 1960) is a Thai film and television actor. He has appeared in many lakorns (Thai soap operas) and feature films. Biography Chatchai was born in Kanchanaburi Province. Having a police officer as a father meant that the family relocated around Thailand constantly throughout his childhood. He attended a prestigious boarding school in Nakhon Pathom (King's College), where he found his passion for rugby. He became widely known for playing the role of ''Tee Yai'', a real robber in the late '70s. Tee Yai's story was adapted into a TV drama in same name on Channel 5 in 1985. He met his wife, Sinjai Plengpanich, on a movie set, in which they played the lead characters. They had many chance encounters during the next four years and decided to date each other. The Chao Phraya ( or ; th, แม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา, , or ) is the major river in Thailand, with its low alluvial plain forming the centre of the country. Nakhon Sawan ( th, นครสวรรค์, ) is a city (''thesaban nakhon'') in Thailand, the name literally means "Heavenly City". The city is the capital of Nakhon Sawan Province, and covers the complete subdistrict (''tambon'') Pak Nam Pho and parts of Khwae Yai, Nakhon Sawan Tok, Nakhon Sawan Ok and Wat Sai, all of Mueang Nakhon Sawan district. The Kingdom of Thailand has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1984, when it became the second independent nation in Southeast Asia to join the competition, after the Philippines. The award is given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. To date Thailand has submitted twenty-four films to AMPAS for Oscar consideration but thus far no Thai candidate has received an Oscar nomination.
