Azerbaijan competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Paris, France on 19 December. Azerbaijani public television channel İctimai Television (İTV) internally selected Sona Azizova to represent the country with the song "One of Those Days". Background Azerbaijan debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in , and also participated in the and contests. In 2018, Fidan Huseynova represented the country with the song "I Wanna Be Like You", and placed 16th with 47 points, out of 20 countries. The country did not return to the contest after 2018, until 2021. Before Junior Eurovision İTV announced their return to the contest on 16 August 2021, along with the selected artist. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 was the 19th edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, organised by France Télévisions and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). İctimai Television ( , “Public Television”), or İTV, is a public television channel in Azerbaijan. It officially began broadcasting on 29 August 2005 after being created by law in the beginning of 2004, as the first independent public broadcaster in Azerbaijan. The channel is based in Baku. Organisation İTV is primarily funded through advertising and government payments. The participation of Azerbaijan in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest first began at the tenth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in which took place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
