Son en Breugel () is a municipality in the southern Netherlands just outside Eindhoven. The municipality covers an area of of which is water. It had a population of in . Son en Breugel used to be two different villages: 'Son' and 'Breugel', with the stream the Dommel separating the two villages. Son en Breugel also borders the following larger municipalities: Eindhoven, Meierijstad, Nuenen, Gerwen en Nederwetten, and Best. The spoken language is North Meierijs (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to colloquial Dutch). Nuenen, Gerwen en Nederwetten () is a municipality consisting of the larger village of Nuenen and two adjacent smaller ones. The book is written in 17th-century Dutch and its title is commonly translated into English as 'The Book of Painters' or 'The Book of (or on) Painting' and sometimes as 'The Book on Picturing'. consists of six parts and is considered one of the principal sources on the history of art and art theory in the 15th and 16th century Low Countries. Son is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant, in the municipality of Son en Breugel. The nearest major city is Eindhoven. History The village was first mentioned in 1107 as Sunna, and might mean creek. Son developed in the Middle Ages along the Dommel River, and has a triangular market square. The church tower dates from around 1500. The matching church burnt down in 1958 and demolished in 1962. In 1960, the St Petrus church was built as a replacement, but at some distance from the tower. Son was home to 391 people in 1840.
