Somersby is a village in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated north-west from Spilsby and east-north-east from Horncastle. The village lies in the civil parish of Greetham with Somersby (where the population is listed) in the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the parish covers about . Tennyson Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Poet Laureate, was born and brought up in Somersby, the son of the rector, and the fourth of twelve children. When he wrote ''The Babbling Brook'' he was referring to a small stream here. Other features of the local landscape are claimed as features mentioned in Tennyson's poetry, such as "Woods that belt the grey hillside" and "The silent woody places by the home that gave me birth". Somersby is a semi-rural locality of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, to the northwest of Gosford along the Pacific Highway. It is part of the local government area. Somersby includes sections of the Brisbane Water National Park, within which Somersby Falls are located, as well as the Mount Penang Parklands which are used as a festival and exhibition centre. Greetham with Somersby is a civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately north-east from the market town of Horncastle. The parish comprises the villages of Greetham, Somersby, Ashby Puerorum, Bag Enderby and the hamlet of Holbeck. Greetham with Somersby is crossed by no major roads, although the A158 Lincoln to Skegness road forms part of the southern parish boundary. The summits of Millam's Hill and Melbourne's Hill – at and – are the highest points in a parish generally between and 260 feet above sea level. Two small streams flow eastward into the River Lymn which flows south-eastwards through the east of the parish. The 2001 Census recorded a Greetham with Somersby population of 161, including Ashby Puerorum and increasing to 167 at the 2011 Census. Somersby cider is a brand of 4.5% abv cider by Danish brewing company Carlsberg Group. Developed in 2008, it was originally developed for the Danish market, but today has been launched in more than 46 markets, including all of Europe, Israel, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, Canada and the United States. Of the world's ten biggest cider brands, Somersby was the one that grew most in 2012. SS ''Somersby'' was a British cargo steamship that was built in 1930, sailed in a number of convoys in the Second World War and was sunk by a U-boat in 1941. Building W. Gray & Co Ltd of West Hartlepool built ''Somersby'', completing her in 1930. She had a three-cylinder triple expansion steam engine that was built by the Central Machine Engineering Works, also of West Hartlepool. The engine was rated at 369 NHP and drove a single screw. ''Somersby''s owner was Ropner Shipping Co, Ltd, which registered her in West Hartlepool. Second World War career By the end of 1939 ''Somersby'' was sailing in convoys. That December she sailed from Liverpool to Halifax, Nova Scotia, with Convoy OB 53, and in late January 1940 she returned carrying a cargo of grain to the UK with Convoy HX 17.
