Lead Vocalist
The lead vocalist in popular music is typically the member of a group or band whose voice is the most prominent melody in a performance where multiple voices may be heard. The lead singer sets their voice against the accompaniment parts of the ensemble as the dominant sound. In vocal group performances, notably in soul and gospel music, and early rock and roll, the lead singer takes the main vocal melody, with a chorus or harmony vocals provided by other band members as backing vocalists. Lead vocalists typically incorporate some movement or gestures into their performance, and some may participate in dance routines during the show, particularly in pop music. Some lead vocalists also play an instrument during the show, either in an accompaniment role (such as strumming a guitar part), or playing a lead instrument/instrumental solo role when they are not singing (as in the case of lead singer-guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix). The lead singer also typically guides the vocal ensem ...

The Best Of CeCe Peniston
''The Best Of'' is the first compilation album by American recording artist CeCe Peniston, released on March 2, 1998 by A&M Records in the overseas. It contains thirteen versions of her hit singles from 1991 to 1997. As the compilation was the singer's closing release under her contract with A&M, it didn't feature any new material. To increase the appeal of the product, the label included alternate, dancefloor remixed takes of Peniston's popular songs from her previous studio albums. ''Finally'' (1992), ''Thought 'Ya Knew'' (1994) and '' I'm Movin' On'' (1996). The concept of the project was to focus on Peniston's music career as exclusively a dance artist. For that reason, three tracks were omitted from her singles chronology. Ballad "Inside That I Cried", R&B/soul fest "Before I Lay (You Drive Me Crazy)" with featuring JoJo Hailey, and " I'm Not Over You", which was earlier released on short play only in the United States. Surprisingly, the album contains in addition an original ...

Other collaborated include DJ Steve "Silk" Hurley, Damon Thomas, Danny Sembello, Darryl Pearson, and Jorge "G-Man" Corante. Upon release, the album garnered mixed to favorable reviews from music critics. Most of them criticized the predominant promoting of R&B tracks, as well as her label for insistence on Peniston abandoning dance community in favor of urban arena. In terms of chart performance, the album has been viewed as a commercial failure with no entry on the US ''Billboard'' 200, nor overseas. The only out of two released singles that cracked the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 list was the lead single " Movin' On", which climbed to number eighty-three, eventually. "S ...

Approaches the chemistry of K Ci's duet with Mary J. Blige three years ago, and has party slow jam written all over it for close-clinging baptisms of fire."
