Somaliland National Football Team
The Somaliland national football team is the football team that represents Somaliland, a self-declared republic that is internationally recognized as a ''de facto'' state. Although Somaliland is a ''de facto'' state, it has not yet received international ''de jure'' recognition. Somaliland is not a member of FIFA and CAF; it is, instead, an associate member of ConIFA, an association established in 2014 of teams from dependencies, unrecognised states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions that are not affiliated with FIFA. Somaliland Football Association
The Somaliland Football Association (SFA; so, Xidhiidhka Kubadda Cagta Somaliland, ar, صوماليلاند اتحاد كرة القدم ) is the governing body of association football, football in Somaliland. The association was established in 2011 The current Chairman and General Secretary is Mohamed Abdi Dixood and Samatar Mohamed Abdillahi respectively. Somaliland became a member of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (CONIFA) in 2015 and participated in the 2016 CONIFA World Football Cup held in Abkhazia. Somaliland was announced the as the host of the 2020 edition of the tournament in 2019, but this was later revoked after concerns regarding their ability to fund the tournament. Somaliland would later leave the organisation and is no longer affiliated with any governing body. Sool, Somalia
Sool ( so, Sool, ar, صول) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in south eastern Somaliland/north western Somalia. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod. The region is disputed by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and Puntland, a Federal Member State of Somalia. The region is partially controlled by both polities. Territorial dispute Sool is disputed by Somaliland and Puntland. The former basis its claim on the British Somaliland protectorate borders, and the later on the territory inhabited by the Harti clan that established the state in 1998. Gabiley
Gabiley ( so, Gabiley, ar, غابيلي), also known as Gebiley, is a city in the Maroodi Jeex region of Somaliland. Gabiley is located 58 km west of Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. It is in the center of the Gabiley district, bounded on the north by the Gulf of Aden, on the west by the Awdal region, on the east by the Hargeisa district, and on the south by the Somali Region of Ethiopia. History Gabiley is one of the oldest towns in Somaliland after Zeila, Berbera and Amud. Some stones left behind in the area were believed to have been earmarked for the construction of pyramids. Togdheer ( so, Togdheer, ar, تُوْجْدَيْر, Tūjdayr) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in central Somaliland. Togdheer is bordered by Maroodi Jeex to the west, Saaxil to the north, Sanaag to the northeast, Sool to the east and Ethiopia to the south. Its capital is Burao. Saaxil
Sahil ( so, Saaxil, ar, ساحل) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in northern Somaliland with the port city of Berbera as its capital. It was separated from Woqooyi Galbeed and became a province in 1991. In 1998, the Sheikh District of Togdheer was incorporated into Sahil region. Awdal ( so, Awdal, ar, أودَل) is an administrative region (''Administrative divisions of Somaliland, gobol'') in western Somaliland. It was separated from Woqooyi Galbeed and became a province in 1984 and is the most northwesterly province of Somaliland.
