The Somaliland University of Technology (SUTECH) ( so, Jaamacadda Teknoolajiyadda Somaliland) is a tertiary academic institution located in Hargeisa, Woqooyi Galbeed, Somaliland. Overview The university was founded in 2000 as a small non-profit educational institution by Dr. Saeed Sheikh Mohamed. It was formerly known as the Hargeisa College of Applied Arts & Technology (CAAT). The CAAT was an approved center of City & Guilds and Edexcel. The Somaliland University of Technology is situated in a campus of 20 hectares donated by Dr. Mohamed. Building construction was funded by the Islamic Development Bank based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and opened in 2007. Hargeisa, Woqooyi Galbeed
Hargeisa (; so, Hargeysa, ar, هرجيسا) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Somaliland. It is located in the Maroodi Jeex region of the Horn of Africa. It succeeded Burco as the capital of the British Somaliland Protectorate in 1941. Hargeisa is the largest city in Somaliland, and also served as the capital of the Isaaq Sultanate during the mid-to-late 19th century. Hargeisa was founded as a watering and trading stop between the coast and the interior by the Isaaq Sultanate. Ahfad University for Women is a private women's university in Omdurman, Sudan that was founded in 1966, by Yusuf Badri, son of the Mahdist soldier Babiker Badri. The university began with only 23 students and 3 teachers. It was the first Sudanese women's college. The current president is Dr. Gasim Badri, Yusuf Badri's son. History The Ahfad University for Women was founded in a familial tradition of educating girls in Sudan.
