Solwezi
Solwezi is a town in Zambia. It is the provincial capital of the mineral-rich North-Western Province. Solwezi is also the administrative capital of Solwezi District, one of the eleven districts in the North-Western Province. Location Solwezi is located on the Chingola–Solwezi–Mwinilunga Road ( T5 Road of Zambia), approximately north-west of Chingola and approximately south-east of Mwinilunga, in the extreme northwest of the country. Solwezi District
Solwezi District is a district of Zambia, located in North-Western Province. The capital lies at Solwezi. As of the 2000 Zambian Census, the district had a population of 203,797 people. North-Western Province, Zambia
North-Western Province is one of ten Provinces of Zambia. It covers an area of , has a population of 727,044 and a population density was 5.80 per square kilometre as of 2010. It is the most sparsely populated province in the country. The provincial capital is Solwezi. The literacy rate stood at 63 per cent against a national average of 70.2 per cent. The rural population constituted 77.45%, while the urban population was 22.55%. Kalumbila District
Kalumbila District is a district of North-Western Province, Zambia. It was named after a mine of the same name ( Kalumbila Mine) and was made independent from Solwezi District In 2016. The current area of Kalumbila district covers what was previously known as Solwezi West Constituency for electoral purposes under the Electoral Commission of Zambia. Kalumbila as Solwezi West, the current Solwezi and Mushindamo districts then as Solwezi Central and Solwezi East respectively, formed what was the larger Solwezi district before it was split up to create the three independent districts. In the Zambian National Assembly, the three legislators representing these areas are still addressed using the old names as Solwezi West, Solwezi Central and Solwezi East Members of Parliament. Mwinilunga
Mwinilunga is a town in the North-Western Province of Zambia. It is the headquarters of Mwinilunga District, one of the province's eleven districts. Location The town lies on the west bank of the ''West Lunga River'', along the Chingola–Solwezi–Mwinilunga Road ( T5 Road of Zambia), which continues north-westwards to Caianda, in Angola. Kalumbila Mine
Kalumbila Mine is a copper mine in Kalumbila District, North-Western Province, Zambia (west of Solwezi). It was formed in 2010 and is one of the four copper mines in Zambia. As of 2018, it was the fourth largest mining employer in Zambia with 11 000 workers. Kalumbila is also the name of the town where the mine is situated. Timeline In 2020, the mine achieved record copper production of 251,216 tonnes, delivering a significant increase in throughput and operating at record low unit cash cost of $1.40 per lb. Provinces Of Zambia
Zambia is divided into 10 provinces for administrative purposes. Each province is headed by a minister appointed by the President and there are ministries of central government for each province. The administrative head of each province is the Permanent Secretary, appointed by the President. There are Deputy Permanent Secretary, heads of government departments and civil servants at the provincial level. Provinces are further divided into districts and almost all the district headquarters are the same as the district names. Chingola
Chingola is a city in Zambia's Copperbelt Province, the country's copper-mining region, with a population of 216,626 (2010 census). It is the home of Nchanga Copper Mine, a deep-shaft high-grade content copper mining operation, which subsequently (in the 1960s) led to the development of two open pit operations, Chingola Open Pit and then Nchanga Open Pit (the latter being the second largest open cast mine in the world). Kaonde Language
Kaonde (''kiiKaonde'') is a Bantu language spoken primarily in Zambia but also in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kaonde and its dialects are spoken and understood by perhaps 350,000 people or more. It is estimated that approximately 2.3% of Zambians are native Kaonde speakers. Kaonde speakers overwhelmingly live in the Northwestern and parts of Central regions of Zambia. Fewer numbers of Kaonde speakers live in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. However, they are not known or identified by the term Kaonde but rather by the term Luba.
