Districts Of Zambia
The ten provinces of Zambia are divided into a total of 116 districts as of 2018. Article 109 in part VIII of the constitution of Zambia deals with local government. It states only that there should be some form of local government, and that this local government should be based on democratically elected councils on the basis of universal adult suffrage. Provinces Of Zambia
Zambia is divided into 10 provinces for administrative purposes. Each province is headed by a minister appointed by the President and there are ministries of central government for each province. The administrative head of each province is the Permanent Secretary, appointed by the President. There are Deputy Permanent Secretary, heads of government departments and civil servants at the provincial level. Provinces are further divided into districts and almost all the district headquarters are the same as the district names. Each of the 116 districts in the 10 provinces has a council which is headed by an elected representative, called councilor. Each councilor holds office for five years. Each council is responsible for raising and collecting local taxes and the budgets of the council are audited and submitted every year after the annual budget. Mumbwa District
Mumbwa District is a district of Zambia, located in Central Province. The capital lies at Mumbwa. As of the 2010 Zambian Census, the district had a population of 218,328 people. It consists of two constituencies, being Mumbwa and Nangoma. Towns Mumbwa District's main population center is Mumbwa, which is close to another towns such as Kasip and Muembe. In the district's south are Banachewembwe and Namukumbo. Bodies of Water The Kafue River forms the district's boundary with Kasempa District before it bisects the district. Mkushi
Mkushi is a town in the Central Province of Zambia, located on the Great North Road and the Tazara railway, northeast of Kapiri Mposhi. The Changwena Falls and Fort Elwes (built-in 1896 by European gold prospectors) lie nearby. Mkushi is well known within Zambia for its commercial farms and is where Chengelo School is situated. Kapiri Mposhi is a Zambian town, seat of the Kapiri Mposhi District, Central Province. Located north of Lusaka, it stands on the Great North Road and is significant for the railway connection between Zambia Railways line from Kitwe to Lusaka and Livingstone and western terminal (New Kapiri Mposhi) of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority from Dar es Salaam since 1976. Kabwe
Kabwe is the capital of the Zambian Central Province and the Kabwe District, with a population estimated at 202,914 at the 2010 census. Named Broken Hill until 1966, it was founded when lead and zinc deposits were discovered in 1902. Kabwe also has a claim to being the birthplace of Zambian politics as it was an important political centre during the colonial period. Kabwe is an important transportation, farming and university centre. Kabwe is becoming a major agricultural hub for the country is the headquarters for Zambia Railways and prison services. Chitambo District is a district of Central Province, Zambia. It was separated from Serenje District in 2012 and is located some 357km north-east of Kabwe along the Great North Road. Chisamba, often misspelled as Chifamba, is a small town located near Chibombo, in the Central Province of Zambia. It is located roughly north of Lusaka.
