Solid Frog
Solid Frog is an indie band based in Detroit, Michigan. They were formed in 1995 and released two albums: ''Supercoat'' (1995) and ''Pepperspray'' (1997) on Overture Records, Novi, Michigan. The band enjoyed some radio success with their first album, especially the song "Standard Day". Their second album ''Pepperspray'' received some airtime. They continue to tour and perform live shows around the Midwest. Three of its band members, Andy Patalan, Mike Purcell and Kyle Neely, also went on to form the band Throttlebody in 2000, after which they released a self-titled album in 2002. Two of its members, Andy Patalan and Kyle Neely, joined the Detroit-based band Sponge in 2004. As of 1999, Overture/Overcore Records has a manufacturing and distribution deal with TVT Records TVT Records (Tee-Vee Tunes) was an American record label founded by Steve Gottlieb. Novi ( ) is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the population was 66,243, an increase of 20% from the 2010 census. A northern suburb of Metro Detroit, Novi is located about northwest of the city of Detroit and about northeast of Ann Arbor. The city is located within the boundaries of the survey township of Novi Township, which now also includes portions of the cities of Northville and Walled Lake. The remaining unincorporated township is only a tiny fraction of surrounded by the city. History Novi was organized as a township in 1832, on land taken from Farmington Township. Andy Patalan
Andrew Patalan (born March 14, 1970) is an American musician best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist for the alternative rock band Sponge. He also is a founding member of Solid Frog and Throttlebody. He was also the guitarist for Brownsville Station from 2011–2013. His brother Tim Patalan is the bassist and producer of Sponge. He is the owner of his home studio, ATP Productions in Shelby Township, Michigan, and he is the co-owner of The Loft Recording Studio in Saline, Michigan. Personal life Patalan grew up on a farm in Saline, Michigan with his brother Tim. One of the barns on this farm was later turned into his recording studio called The Loft Recording Studio, which he is the co-owner of along with his brother, and has been the studio for recording over 500 bands since 1988. Sponge is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1992 by vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarist Mike Cross, bassist Tim Cross, drummer Jimmy Paluzzi, and guitarist Joey Mazzola. Dombroski and the Cross brothers were previously in the hard rock band Loudhouse, with Mazzola joining later before the end of the band's tenure. Sponge's discography includes nine studio albums, four live albums, and several charting singles. TVT Records (Tee-Vee Tunes) was an American record label founded by Steve Gottlieb. Over the course of its 24-year history, the label released 25 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum releases.
