Sociedade Atlético Ceilandense, commonly known as Atlético Ceilandense, is a Brazilian football club based in Ceilândia, Distrito Federal. They competed in the Série C twice. The club was formerly known as Sociedade Esportiva Ceilandense. History The club was founded on October 8, 1977, as Sociedade Esportiva Ceilandense. They competed in the Série C in 1997 and in 1995, they had weak performances in both editions of the competition. Ceilandense won the Campeonato Brasiliense Second Division in 2009, after beating Botafogo-DF in the final, and soon after that the club was renamed to Sociedade Atlético Ceilandense, after joining a partnership with Atlético Goianiense of Goiás state. Ceilândia
Ceilândia is an administrative region in the Federal District in Brazil. With about 398,374 inhabitants, it is the administrative region of largest population in the Federal District. History Ceilândia was created by the government in the 1970s to keep people from moving into Brasília and setting up invasions. The root of the name Ceilândia is "CEI" ( pt, Campanha de Erradicação de Invasões: Invasions Eradication Campaign). In 1969, after only nine years of existence, Brasília already had 79,128 people living in irregular occupations, out of a population of 500 thousand inhabitants in all the Federal District. In that year a seminar took place in Brasília concerning social problems of the Federal District. Invasion dwellers were the most serious problem. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Qualification rules varied, some federations used the state tournaments as qualification tournaments, others organized exclusive qualification tournaments to the Série C. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C 1995 was a football (soccer) series played from August 27 to December 10th, 1995. It was the third level of the Brazilian National League. The competition had 108 clubs, the largest number before or since (as of writing in 2014), and two of them were originally promoted to Série B. However, with the withdrawal of five teams after the 1995 Série B, the 3rd to 6th placed teams in the 1995 Série C were promoted to the 1996 Série B. Associação Botafogo Futebol Clube, also known as Botafogo or Botafogo-DF, is a Brazilian football club based in Cristalina, in Goiás. The club was formerly known as Clube Esportivo Guará. Atlético Clube Goianiense, usually known as Atlético Goianiense or just as Atlético, is a Brazilian football team from the city of Goiânia, capital city of the Brazilian state of Goiás.
