Social Democratic Women In Sweden
The Social Democratic Women in Sweden ( sv, Sveriges socialdemokratiska kvinnoförbund ), or "S-women" ( ), is the women's wing of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. It was established in 1920 by representatives from 120 local Social Democratic women’s clubs from all over Sweden. At the time of its foundation, there had been local women's clubs of the Party since the foundation of the '' Stockholms allmänna kvinnoklubb'' in 1892, but there was no national women's club. The most important reason for the funding of a national women’s league was to promote and activate women politically, as well as to acquire access to power and provide a political power base for women. A women's wing is an organisation affiliated with a political party that consists of that party's female membership or acts to promote women within a party. Lisa Mattson
Lisa Mattson (1918-1997) was a Swedish politician (Social Democrat). She was active in the Social-Demokraten in 1941–1943, Idun 1944, Morgon-Tidningen 1945, and Ny Tid 1948–1963. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). The plural ''women'' is sometimes used in certain phrases such as "women's rights" to denote female humans regardless of age. Lena Sommestad (born 3 April 1957 in Börje, Uppsala Municipality) is a Swedish Social Democratic politician and economic historian. She was Minister for the Environment in the Ministry of Sustainable Development in the Cabinet of Göran Persson from 2002 to 2006. Nalin Pekgul
Nalin Pekgul (née Baksi, born 30 April 1967) is a Swedish Social Democratic politician, nurse and former parliamentarian. She was the first Muslim woman to sit in the Swedish Parliament. Life Pekgul was born in Batman, Turkey, but migrated to Sweden with her family in 1980 when she was 13. She is the sister of the Kurdish nationalist and anti-racism activist Kurdo Baksi and niece of the author Mahmut Baksi. Pekgul trained as a nurse, a profession in which she worked both before and after her election as a politician. Gun Margareta Winberg (born ''Gustafsson'' 13 August 1947) is a Swedish Social Democratic politician. Winberg held various ministerial posts in the Third cabinet of Ingvar Carlsson and the Cabinet of Göran Persson from 1994 to 2003, and was Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden from 2002 to 2003. Maj-Lis Lööw (born 13 August 1936) is a former social democrat politician who served as the minister of immigration and minister of gender equality between 1989 and 1991 in the cabinets of Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson. She was also a member of the Swedish Parliament and the European Parliament. Biography Lööw was born in Eskilstuna on 13 August 1936.
