Soccer Night
''Soccer Night'' is a regional television football programme on ITV in United Kingdom between the 1990s and 2008. Early history The programme concept began in 1990 on Granada Television in North West England. ''Granada Soccer Night'', which was shown late on a weekday night, presented by Elton Welsby as a replacement opt-out from the networked ''Midweek Sports Special''. Granada's head of sport Paul Doherty had been unhappy with the network coverage of Oldham's run to the Littlewoods Cup Final in 1990, and took the initiative to launch their own regional programme. Central Television also chose to launch their own show at the same time. It showed highlights of midweek football matches, particularly League Cup games. In its earliest years internationals and European club games were also a regular part of the show. ITV Westcountry, formerly known as Westcountry Television and Carlton Westcountry, was the ITV franchise holder for the south west of England, covering Cornwall, Devon, Isles of Scilly, southern and western Somerset and western Dorset. ITV Wales and West, previously known as Harlech Television (HTV), was an ITV franchise area in the United Kingdom until 31 December 2013, licensed to a broadcaster by the regulator Ofcom. There is no channel, past or present, named "ITV Wales and West". The licence relates to a "dual region", meaning that the franchise area was divided into two sub-regions, Wales and the West of England, each of which had to be served by distinct and separate ITV programme services, as more fully defined within the licence. From January 2014, the dual-region licence was split in two, with ITV Cymru Wales for Wales and ITV West Country covering the both the West of England sub-region and South West England. Andy Steggall is the multimedia manager at the Ordnance Survey and a former television sports presenter, producer and filmmaker. He produced the South and West edition of the BBC regional football show ''Late Kick Off'' and has been working for Sky on several other projects. Stanley Victor Collymore (born 22 January 1971) is an English football pundit, sport strategist, and former player who played as a striker from 1990 to 2001, most notably for Nottingham Forest and later Liverpool, who he joined from the former for an English transfer record of £8.5 million in 1995. ITV Border, previously Border Television and commonly referred to as simply Border, is the Channel 3 service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the England/Scotland border region, covering most of Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders and parts of Northumberland. The TV service previously covered the Isle of Man from 26 March 1965 until 15 July 2009.
