Sobrevivendo No Inferno
''Sobrevivendo no Inferno'' ("Surviving in Hell") is the fourth studio album of the Brazilian rap group Racionais MC's, released in December 1997. The album reached the mark of 1,500,000 copies sold, despite having been released by an independent record label. ''Sobrevivendo no Inferno'' was ranked 14th on the 100 Greatest Brazilian music albums of ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. A feature in the album is the presence of Biblical-inspired lyrics, as in the songs "Genesis" and "Capítulo 4, Versículo 3" (both by Mano Brown). The album is also heavy on lyrics discussing to social inequalities, poverty and racism. The big hits were "Diário de Um Detento" (based on the diary of Jocenir, former inmate of the Carandiru prison), "Fórmula Mágica da Paz" and "Mágico de Oz" (Edy Rock). Tim Maia (, born Sebastião Rodrigues Maia; September 28, 1942 – March 15, 1998) was a Brazilian musician, songwriter, and businessman known for his iconoclastic, ironic, outspoken, and humorous musical style. Barão Vermelho () is a Brazilian rock band. Formed in 1981 in Rio de Janeiro, it was originally led by songwriting duo Cazuza (singer) and Roberto Frejat (guitarist), who assumed the vocals after Cazuza's departure in 1985. Djavan Caetano Viana (; born 27 January 1949) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. Early life and career Djavan was born in Maceió, Brazil to a white father of Dutch descent and a black mother. He later formed the group Luz, Som, Dimensão (LSD – "Light, Sound, Dimension"), playing Beatles' material. In 1973, Djavan moved to Rio de Janeiro and started singing soap opera soundtracks. Mtume (pronounced ''em-tu-may'') was an American funk and soul group that rose to prominence during the early 1980s and had several R&B hits during its career. Its founder, former percussionist James Mtume, previously played and toured with Miles Davis in the early 1970s. Charles Edwin Hatcher (January 21, 1942 – April 2, 2003), known by his stage name Edwin Starr, was an American singer and songwriter. Starr was famous for his Norman Whitfield-produced Motown singles of the 1970s, most notably the number-one hit "War".
