Snowboarding At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics were held at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou and Big Air Shougang in Beijing, China. The events took place between 5 and 15 February 2022. A total of 11 snowboarding events will be held. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added the mixed team snowboard cross event to the Olympic program, increasing the total number of events to 11. A total of 238 quota spots were distributed to the sport of snowboarding, a decline of 20 from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of 11 events were contested, five for men, five for women and one mixed. Qualification A total of 238 athletes qualified to compete in the snowboarding events (119 men and 119 women). A country can enter a maximum of 26 athletes across all events, with a maximum of 14 per gender. The men's parallel giant slalom competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 8 February, at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Jan Scherrer (born 11 July 1994) is a Swiss snowboarder. He is a three-time Olympian, representing Switzerland at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongchang and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He placed third to win the bronze medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Career Scherrer was born in Wildhaus-Alt St. Johann, Switzerland. He began snowboarding at age 7 in 2001 and began competing in the 2002-2003 season. In his first Olympic showing at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Scherrer finished the qualification in 9th place of the 2nd heat, qualifying him to the semifinal. Scott James (born 6 July 1994) is an Australian snowboarder and four-time Olympian. He was the flag bearer for Australia at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the halfpipe. The men's big air competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 15 February (final), at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing. The mixed team snowboard cross competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 12 February, at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou.
