Smile From The Streets You Hold
''Smile from the Streets You Hold'' is the second studio album by American musician John Frusciante. It was released on August 26, 1997, on Birdman Records, while Frusciante was addicted to drugs and was no longer performing with Red Hot Chili Peppers. The record is an amalgamation of songs from various periods of time, mainly extras not included on Frusciante's debut ''Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt'' (1994); included, however, are several tracks recorded in 1993, 1994, 1996 and "A Fall Thru the Ground" from 1988. Recording Many songs from ''Smile from the Streets You Hold'' were recorded when Frusciante was still with the Chili Peppers and are from the same period as his previous solo album, ''Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt''. One of the earliest songs to be recorded is "A Fall Thru the Ground", which was recorded in 1988. John Anthony Frusciante (; born March 5, 1970) is an American musician, best known as the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers across three stints since 1988. He has released 11 solo albums and 7 EPs, ranging in style from acoustic guitar to electronic music. Frusciante joined the Chili Peppers at the age of 18 after the death of guitarist Hillel Slovak, and first appeared on their album '' Mother's Milk'' (1989). His second album with the band, ''Blood Sugar Sex Magik'' (1991), was their breakthrough success. Overwhelmed by the band's newfound popularity, he quit in 1992. He became a recluse and entered a period of heroin addiction, during which he released his first solo recordings: '' Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt'' (1994) and '' Smile from the Streets You Hold'' (1997).
