Estrus (EP)
''Estrus EP'' is the first EP by John Frusciante, a 7" extended play released in 1997. Only 400–500 copies of this vinyl EP were pressed and could be purchased through Birdman Recordings. The first song, "Estrus", was released as the last song on ''Smile from the Streets You Hold'' under the title "Estress". The b-side The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. John Frusciante
John Anthony Frusciante (; born March 5, 1970) is an American musician, best known as the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers across three stints since 1988. He has released 11 solo albums and 7 EPs, ranging in style from acoustic guitar to electronic music. Frusciante joined the Chili Peppers at the age of 18 after the death of guitarist Hillel Slovak, and first appeared on their album '' Mother's Milk'' (1989). His second album with the band, ''Blood Sugar Sex Magik'' (1991), was their breakthrough success. Overwhelmed by the band's newfound popularity, he quit in 1992. He became a recluse and entered a period of heroin addiction, during which he released his first solo recordings: '' Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt'' (1994) and '' Smile from the Streets You Hold'' (1997). Experimental Rock
Experimental rock, also called avant-rock, is a subgenre of rock music that pushes the boundaries of common composition and performance technique or which experiments with the basic elements of the genre. Birdman Records is an independent record label based in South San Francisco, California, that was founded in 2000 by David Katznelson, former A&R vice president of Warner Bros. Records. History Birdman Records is the flagship label of the Birdman Recording Group, which includes Sepia Tone Records, Tornado Records, and Tariff Records. The label was founded in 2000 after the departure of David Katznelson from Warner Bros. Records. Smile From The Streets You Hold
''Smile from the Streets You Hold'' is the second studio album by American musician John Frusciante. It was released on August 26, 1997, on Birdman Records, while Frusciante was addicted to drugs and was no longer performing with Red Hot Chili Peppers. The record is an amalgamation of songs from various periods of time, mainly extras not included on Frusciante's debut ''Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt'' (1994); included, however, are several tracks recorded in 1993, 1994, 1996 and "A Fall Thru the Ground" from 1988. Recording Many songs from ''Smile from the Streets You Hold'' were recorded when Frusciante was still with the Chili Peppers and are from the same period as his previous solo album, ''Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt''. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record.
