Smash!!
Smash!! (in Russian: СМЭШ!!) was a Russian pop duo formed in 2000 which consisted of members Sergey Lazarev and Vlad Topalov. They sang mainly in English, and were most popular among teenagers in Russia and Southeast Asia. The duo were the first winners of New Wave, winning the contest in 2002. Although the duo fell apart in 2004, Smash!! officially disbanded in 2006. Biography 2000-2002: Beginnings Vlad Topalov and Sergey Lazarev had both risen to fame as soloists of the popular Russian children's group Neposedy, which had enjoyed success in the 1990s on the Russian television show ''Morning Star''. The idea of starting a duo between the two was born after they first sang a cover of the song " Belle" from the musical Notre Dame de Paris for Topalov's father Mikhail, who worked as a musician for Neposedy. Vlad Topalov
Vladislav Mikhailovich Topalov (Russian: Владислав Михайлович Топалов; born 25 October 1985) better known as just Vlad Topalov (Влад Топалов) is a singer, dancer and actor born in Moscow, Russia. He is most famous for his singing career, when he rose to fame as the blond-haired member of the group Smash!!. The group broke up in 2006. Since then Topalov has pursued a solo career. SMASH!! In 2000 Sergey Lazarev and Vlad Topalov started the boy band Smash!!. Shortly after they were signed by Universal Music Records in Russia and were one of the biggest Russian pop groups in 2002–2003. Sergey Vyacheslavovich Lazarev ( rus, Серге́й Вячесла́вович Ла́зарев, , sʲɪrˈɡʲej vʲɪtɕɪˈslavəvʲɪtɕ ˈlazərʲɪf; born 1 April 1983) is a Russian singer, dancer and actor. He is most famous for his singing career, when he rose to fame as a member of the group Smash!!. The group broke up in 2006. Since then Lazarev has pursued a solo career. He represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden, and finished in third place, coming first in the televote. Neposedy ( rus, Непоседы, , nʲɪpɐˈsʲedɨ; ) is a children's music group formed in Moscow, Russia in 1991 by Elena Pindzhoyan and later supported by Yuri Nikolaev. Although starting out with a group of 15 children that rotated per performance, the group later did not have a fixed membership and hundreds of children have been estimated to have been part of Neposedy at some stage during its history. History Neposedy was founded by then 22-year-old Elena Pindzhoyan as a children's club at Moscow's Leningrad district's local Pioneers Palace, focusing on children's music. New Wave (competition)
New Wave (russian: Новая волна, ''Novaya volna'', lv, Jaunais Vilnis) is an international contest for young performers of popular music founded in 2002 by the Russian composer Igor Krutoy and Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls and later enhanced by the Russian superstar Alla Pugacheva. The contest usually lasts for six days: 3 contest days, 2 special event days and, at the end, the day where the contest's results are announced followed by an ending concert. Location For the first 14 years New Wave was held in the Latvian coastal city of Jūrmala, but in 2015 it moved to Sochi, the Russian Federation (other potential locations included Baku, Kaliningrad, Kazan and Crimea). "Faith" is a song written and performed by George Michael, from his 1987 debut solo album of the same name. It held the number-one position on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart for four weeks and, according to ''Billboard'' magazine, was the number-one single of the year in the United States in 1988.
