Smalltown America Records
Smalltown America (STA) was a UK-based independent record label formed in 2001. Staff are currently based in London and Derry, and the label has a stated aim of "cultivating a productive staff of music lovers and a self-sustainable business model, through which artists can release the best records they can possibly produce." Originally set up by Jetplane Landing as the platform for their releases, the label has now released numerous albums by other acts, as well as nine ''Public Service Broadcast'' compilation CDs. The closure of the label was announced by founder Andrew Ferris on 24 November 2020. Derry, officially Londonderry (), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fifth-largest city on the island of Ireland. Axis Of
Axis Of are a three-piece alternative rock band from Portstewart, Northern Ireland. The band is composed of Niall Lawlor (guitar, vocals) and Ewen Friers (bass, vocals). History Axis Of formed in 2007, and after various line up changes they released debut single "Brobdingnagian" in late 2009, launching in Belfast in January 2010. Since early 2010 the band have enjoyed a rise in popularity, partly due to the release of their second single "Port Na Spaniagh", which was released along with a music video, available on YouTube. Following one of the band's UK tours in early 2010, ''Rock Sound'' magazine dubbed them "the most exciting band to come out of Northern Ireland, possibly ever" and gave them a 9/10 rating for their live performance at a show in Newcastle. Feldberg (band)
Feldberg is an Icelandic musical duo formed by Eberg (Einar Tönsberg) and Rósa Birgitta Ísfeld from Reykjavík. Their debut album, ''Don't Be a Stranger'', was first released in Iceland in 2009 on Cod Music. At the Icelandic Music Awards (IMA) in 2010, they were nominated for three awards and won for Best Song for their track "Dreamin'", which was subsequently featured on the ''Kitsune Compilation 9''. Their music has been extensively used for advertising in Iceland; the airline Icelandair use "Dreamin'" as their in-flight music choice. LaFaro
LaFaro were a four-piece alternative rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They consisted of Jonny Black (guitar/vocals), Dave Magee (guitar), Herb Magee (Bass) and Alan Lynn (drums). History Formed in 2004 LaFaro have been described as: "old school post hardcore sounds with just drums, guitars and big chunky distorted bass...they are one of the finest Irish Alt-Rock bands you are likely to hear in quite a while". Oppenheimer (band)
Oppenheimer were an indie pop band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The band was made up of musicians Shaun Robinson and Rocky O'Reilly. Robinson and O'Reilly were previously members of the now disbanded Belfast group, Torgas Valley Reds. They met in 2003, in Belfast. O'Reilly had been mixing sound and recording Torgas Valley Reds, whom Robinson drummed for. Inspired by their mutual love for Moog synthesizers, vocoders, and airhorns, O'Reilly and Robinson formed Oppenheimer in late 2004, using O'Reilly's spare room to record three songs, which they sent to their favourite labels. Oppenheimer's music has been used in various North American television shows, including '' How I Met Your Mother'', in the episode " Lucky Penny", ''Ugly Betty'', and ''Gossip Girl''.
