Slobodan Petrović
Slobodan Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Слободан Петровић, ; born 21 December 1969) is a Kosovo Serb politician and former Deputy Prime Ministers of the Republic of Kosovo. He was a member of the Kosovo Assembly and until 2020 he was the head of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS). Career In September 2006, Petrović set up the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) in Kosovo. He stated that the aims of the party were to help Kosovo's Serb communities stay in Kosovo and to improve living conditions so as to secure a sustainable and realistic return of displaced Serbs. On 8 February 2009, Petrović met with Albanian President Bamir Topi. They discussed about the situation in Kosovo and that Albania was a major factor towards stability in Kosovo. On 13 February 2009, Petrović was named "Personality of the Year" by a group of seven non-governmental organisations. Slobodan ( sr-Cyrl, Слободан) is a Serbo-Croatian masculine given name which means "free" (''sloboda'' / meaning "freedom, liberty") used among other South Slavs as well. It was coined by Serbian liberal politician Vladimir Jovanović who, inspired by John Stuart Mill's essay ''On Liberty'' baptised his son as Slobodan in 1869 and his daughter Pravda (Justice) in 1871. The Serb List ( sr, / ; al, Lista Serbe) is a Serb minority political party in Kosovo. Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 8 June 2014, after incumbent Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi announced his intention to hold elections. Kosovan Parliamentary Election, 2010
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 12 December 2010, following a vote of no-confidence in the government that brought forward the election. Those were the first elections after the country declared independence. The Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK) of incumbent Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi won a plurality amidst controversies and a partial re-poll, while he was still in the process of trying to form a government. The election was seriously hampered by a number of irregularities and election fraud; and a second poll was held on 9 January 2011 at 21 voting stations in 5 municipalities.
