''Entertaining Mr Sloane'' is a 1970 British black comedy film directed by Douglas Hickox. The screenplay by Clive Exton is based on the 1964 play of the same title by Joe Orton. This was the second adaptation of the play, the first having been developed for British television and broadcast by ITV on 15 July 1968. Plot Murder, homosexuality, nymphomania, and sadism are among the themes of this black comedy focusing on a brother and sister who become involved with a young, sexy, amoral drifter with a mysterious past. Kath is a lonely middle-aged woman living in the London suburbs with her aging father Kemp, referred to as "DaDa". Lone Sloane is a science fiction comics character created in 1966 by the French cartoonist Philippe Druillet. Publication history Lone Sloane first appeared in Druillet's own debut, ''Mystère des Abîmes'', published in 1966. Other stories were published in the Franco-Belgian comics magazine ''Pilote'' from February 1970 to April 1971. The series was subsequently revamped by the author for ''Metal Hurlant'' magazine. Plot summary Act 1 Mr Sloane, a young man looking for a place to board, happens by the residence of Kath, a middle-aged landlady whose home is on the outskirts of a rubbish dump. Sloane Crosley (born August 3, 1979) is an American writer living in New York City known for her humorous essays, including the collections '' I Was Told There'd Be Cake'', ''How Did You Get This Number'', and ''Look Alive Out There''. Sloane Square is a London Underground station in Chelsea, serving Sloane Square. It is served by the District and Circle lines, between South Kensington and Victoria stations and is in Travelcard Zone 1. The entrance to the station is on the east side of Sloane Square ( A3217). It is adjacent to the Royal Court Theatre and is the nearest station for King's Road shopping, the Peter Jones department store and the Cadogan Hall. History The station was opened on 24 December 1868 by the District Railway (DR, now the District line) when the company opened the first section of its line between South Kensington and Westminster stations. The construction of the station was complicated by the crossing of the site by the River Westbourne which ran through Hyde Park as the Serpentine Lake and was originally crossed by the Knight's Bridge at Knightsbridge.
