An insult is an expression or statement (or sometimes behavior) which is disrespectful or scornful. Insults may be intentional or accidental. Slighting is the deliberate damage of high-status buildings to reduce their value as military, administrative or social structures. It is her debut novel and is about a woman who withdraws from society and has near-death experiences in which she enters a dark room where she is tormented by people she had previously slighted. It was first published as a paperback original and e-book in the United Kingdom and Australia in July 2009 by Angry Robot, an offshoot of HarperCollins, and in the United States by Angry Robot in September 2010. Aaron Tony Slight (born 19 January 1966) is a New Zealand former professional motorcycle road racer. He competed in the Superbike World Championships from to , finishing second in the championship twice and third four times. He later competed in car racing and now is a television presenter for AA Torque, a motoring show on New Zealand television. Motorcycle racing career Born in Masterton, New Zealand, Slight was Australian Superbike Champion in 1991, before spending most of the 1990s racing in the Superbike World Championship, amassing 87 podiums, 13 wins and 8 pole. For many years he was the only rider to win the Suzuka 8 Hours race for three consecutive years, having done so in 1993–1995. George Henry Slight
George Henry Slight (30 September 1859 – 26 June 1934) was a Scottish engineer who established the Chilean lighthouse service. Early years Slight, the son of George Slight and Elizabeth Marshall, grew up in Edinburgh in an engineering family. After an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer, he worked on the steamers plying the route between Britain and India. He subsequently worked for several years with Trinity House, which was responsible for the lighthouse service in England and Wales. Chile In 1893 Slight was recruited by the Chilean ambassador in London, Agustin Ross, who had been ordered by the President of Chile, Jorge Montt, to find someone suitable to establish a system of lighthouses in the country. James Slight (20 October 1855 – 9 December 1930) was an Australian cricketer who played in one Test match in 1880. Slight played first-class cricket as a batsman for Victoria from 1874 to 1888, but was never able to replicate at state level his heavy scoring for South Melbourne, where his score of 279 in 1882-83 is still the club record. He toured England in 1880 with the Australian team and played in the first Test to be held in England, but his tour was marred by illness.
