Slavko Štimac
Slavko Štimac ( sr-cyrl, Славко Штимац; born 15 October 1960) is a Serbian actor. Born in a village near Perušić in modern-day Croatia, he later graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. Štimac made his screen debut in the 1972 children's film '' Vuk samotnjak''. What followed was a career during which Štimac appeared in many popular and important 1970s and 1980s Yugoslav films where he played child and adolescent characters (including the role of young Russian soldier in Sam Peckinpah's ''Cross of Iron''). His youthful looks later plagued his career, typecasting him into adolescent roles well into his 30s. ''Life Is a Miracle'' ( sr, Život je čudo / Живот је чудо) is a Serbian drama film directed by Emir Kusturica in 2004. It was entered into the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. It received nomination at the Golden Eagle Award in 2005 for Best Foreign Language Film. Plot The film opens just as construction has been completed on a railway connecting mountainous regions of eastern Bosnia and western Serbia in 1992. Croats are a recognized national minority in Serbia, a status they received in 2002. The majority of the Bunjevac and Šokac communities traditionally identify as part of the Croatian minority as well. ''Underground'' ( sr, Подземље / ''Podzemlje''), is a 1995 comedy-drama film directed by Emir Kusturica, with a screenplay co-written with Dušan Kovačević. It is also known by the subtitle ''Once Upon a Time There Was One Country'' ( sr, italic=yes, Била једном једна земља/Bila jednom jedna zemlja), the title of the five-hour miniseries (the long cut) shown on Serbian RTS television. Perušić is municipality (''općina'') in Lika-Senj County, Croatia. The municipality has 2,638 inhabitants, while the settlement itself has 852. The municipality is within the mountainous Lika region of central Croatia. The Kosinj valley region sprawls alongside it.
